Here's the newest munchkin that hatched last Friday. I'm almost positive that it's a micro.
Curious-How much did Munchkin weight when he hatched?
I have found that the tiniest chicks grow up to be the tiniest of serama.

It's a beautiful chick with a nice upright stance. She didn't weigh it at hatch, but I'll make her do it in a minute when she comes back inside. She popped out to check on the adults before we get some rain (hopefully).
There are two others from the same pair that are half the size of all their siblings. There's a three week old sharing the brooder with that little guy and two Silver-laced Orpingtons that are also five and four days old. The three week old Serama, while feathered, is smaller than the Orpingtons.
Wow, it is tiny like mine. Mine weighed 16g at 3 days old. At 4 weeks he was weighing 49g. Oh these little ones! The little munchkin is weighing in at .4 oz (11.3 grams). I went ahead and weighed the older sister too. She's about 4 weeks old and weighs 1.5 oz (45.5 grams).

Such precious babies and certainly tiny! But I think sister may be a brother. The little munchkin is weighing in at .4 oz (11.3 grams). I went ahead and weighed the older sister too. She's about 4 weeks old and weighs 1.5 oz (45.5 grams).

Please do. I sure wish I had him as I need new blood in my flock. I have a small white chick I hatched from WVduckchick's eggs. He shows real promise to be a good fit with my line. At 11 days old I am positive it's a cockerel; exactly what I'd hoped to get; a small ( hoping he will be an A) white rooster that has a silkied gene. This one will be a house chicken as I do not want anything to happen to him until he's old enough to be with some hens. It's definitley a possibility that she's a he. They've been really easy to sex early on so far, but she/he might be developing slower if it's a micro. I'll keep you updated!
Sorry, a serama with feathered feet is not pure serama; a cross was done somewhere in the bird's family tree. And yes, I would like to get some eggs shipped when you are able (no family or friends in Texas) depending on how much you'd charge for a dozen or so (not from the pair where the feather footed chick came from). She has my little fat dog in her lap and can't type so I'm replying for her. lol
If you ever visit family in Texas you could get birds, but when it cools off we can ship eggs too.
Also, has anyone ever seen a Serama with feathered shanks/feet? She hatched one little cockerel from a different pair and I'd say his legs are feathered like a hatchery Marans? More than stubs but less than any feather-legged breed I've seen. I've never seen it, but I'm by no means a Serama expert.![]()
