Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, Jake, choose your words carefully.

On another note, how are your hatches going? Do you have any of your own offspring yet? I've seen pics of birds that you purchased, and I know you're just starting your program, any chicks to call your own yet? How's that fancy incubator working out?

His mom looks a lot like your hen, with that white background, and blackish penciling. The closest color description I could find for her was Silver Quill, but she does have some salmon colors leaking in, now that she's maturing. Funny thing is all the female chicks that I've hatched are dark colored. Nothing like their mom. Sure is fun to experiment!

So they are a week away? 90% hatch rate is really good. Congrats! I hope you post pics of your first hatch. That will be exciting for you.

Although I must say that the first two months of growing out is even more fun. You get to see what you really have.

Oops, read your post wrong, fixed my wordage...

btw... you can get anything you want by selective breeding... i know people that get hatchery birds and over time their line gives them great show quality birds... it is not all about the birds you use, it's all about the breeder...

anyways...

tomatoe tomAHto...

i have hatchery giant cochins and horrible pet quality OEGB's (that i'm not breeding)... but i enjoy them as much as any other bird really... some people tell me that they are ugly, but whatever... i don't care... but i'm sure some people will get their feelings hurt and offended...

i also want to add... that i don't think i have patience to work with seramas... HAHAHAHHAA... sorry... but sigh... it feels like a lot of work... i guess i have to be more consistent with it...

What do you mean Gumbii? Work with them like in behavior? I have my little cockerel sitting on a towel on my computer desk right now. He is learning how to "stay". Easy peasy
