Please remember me when you get ready to sell some cocoapops! I <3 them!

Tammie, I will always remember you......here is my deal for you and you only. If you come over to SoCal for November show, I will let you pick out a pair of any chick from any of my projects for free.....

Holy Moly...........I sure wish I could come! Cali is a longgggg way from SE Ga! Pretty sure they wouldn't let me have any more days off since I'll be taking 8 days off for World Show......but dang, that's an awesome offer!

Ok, so I fully intend to get a cocoapop breeding trio or so when I go to Grady's. Once I can get some chicks, I say we do some swapping. But in the meantime, should you decide to sell any you let me know! You are such a sweetie!

I don't mean to tease but in the next few months I will post some pics of ultimate 5 from my cocopop project, they are only 5 weeks old now but I know they are going to be very nice when they mature. I did not realize how good they were untill I decided to take them out of my brooder for excercise with others. So far, I have only 7 chicks from this project and expecting 5 more 10 days from today. Btw, the offer still stand until Nov. 12. Here are few pics of this yr hatched;

recently hatched from cocopop project, the 2 hens below are from my cocopop project too.

LOL, heck, you stand a much better chance of getting there than I do!!!

Sigh.............now that just stinks Joey. World is the last week in October, and I know they won't let me take vacation right after I've just taken days off. UGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!! I wanna come!!!!

Joey, you have gorgeous birds, as I've told you before!!! Now, I could afford "airfare" for the chickies MUCH easier than I could afford airfare for ME so anytime you want to let any of those cocoapops or any chocolates go you just holla!!!

but gosh I wish I had that opportunity! I am going to try to be there anyway, but will be around 7!/2 months pregnant by then I think and my birds aren't ready either -so we will see. I recently adopted a sweet but needy Cockatoo with issues that's taking away from training time for my seramas.

I did that once. Got a little citron cockatoo from a rescue group. She'd ruined her feather follicles d/t plucking for several years. She got really attached to me, and stopped plucking or chewing her feathers, but damage had been done. She was super sweet, but also extraordinarily easily upset and paniced. She settled in really nicely and did very well for several years with me. I still feel terrible. WE have dogs and always have had, but never had any issues. We always opened her cage door and she always either sat on the cage top or on the door part. Only time she ever got off her cage is to come visit me when I was sitting at the table or on the couch.

We went outside to feed, and apparently she must have freaked out about something and flew down, and when I came in she had been mauled pretty badly. I rushed her to the vet, but wasn't much we could do for her so had to put her to sleep. That has been quite a few years ago now, and i still feel terrible about it. Her name was Baby.

I wish people realized the committment parrots are and the care that they require, espeically in regards to the amount of attention they need. They are much smarter than people give them credit for, and need the interaction. I also had an Umbrella, and an African Gray.

We are way too busy with the horses now, so don't have any more birds. I sole my CAG to my best friend and she still has him.

BTW, I am going to see if i can't arrange something to come out if the dang airfare isn't too bad. Anybody wanna put me up for a few nights??? LOL, just hate to have to pass up such an opportunity!!!!!

This is a Citron also. He has plucking issues too, the woman that had him the last 5 years said he didn't like her and her daughter he was attached to had moved out, so he recently began plucking. His story before she took him in was much more sad than that. He'd been in a tiny cage now for 19 yrs, she wasn't able to manage getting him into a new one and I think she was afraid of him because she was bitten when she first got him 5 yrs ago.
I got him feeling secure in a new big cage by the 2nd night. He is very sweet and friendly too and doing well. He also has those little freak outs lol. He is 19 -lots of time left in him, so he will be my buddy when I'm old and grey. I'm lucky, he is pretty needy around me but once he is in his cage in a quiet room, he happily entertains himself as long as he does get enough time out of it during the day.
That's so sad what happened to Baby

I can only imagine how heartbreaking that is, and how hard it would be to accept. I would be so angry with my dog too though it's just what they do and not really their fault. My chihuahua recently killed a pheasant chick that jumped out of the brooder, she just tried to play with it like a toy

They don't mean to do things like that it's just in their nature but it still gets you mad.

I'd offer to put you up but I don't have anywhere to put you...

It's crowded here.

Our dogs had been around the birds for several years with no issues, so we'd gotten complacent. Baby stayed out on her cage all day and was quite happy. She almost NEVER got down, only if I was sitting close by. Sometimes she'd "cry" for me to come get her and I would. She was really super sweet, and like yours, was not well cared for when I got her. She also had been kept in a small cage. The story was that the owner's dogs had chewed off the ends of her toes. She was missing several........but honestly, I'm not sure she didn't do it as I did see her nibbling the ends often. Never broke the skin..............but I don't know which came first, the wounds, or the chewing.

I really loved her and she loved me and I will never forgive myself, but do feel good that she had several years where she was well cared for and loved at least. Dang, I am tearing up now!!
