American serama thread!

I have a frizzled roo, Fritz that looses a few feathers all the time but in the last couple of weeks he's lost so many I swear he should be a naked bird.

Thank you for your help about egg laying. I caught up with my book club book "Raising Chickens for Dummies" last night and it did help me realize that since Seramas aren't bred for egg production, they aren't regular layers! (DUH Patty!!). THese little chickens are so darn cute, all your roos you'all just posted are so beautiful!! We call ours "Barbie & Ken"

If what mine just went through wasn't a molt then I sure as heck don't know what it was! About 30 of my males lost almost their entire tail and probably the same for the hens.

Well chickens do loose a few feathers all the time. But 1/2 of my SErama have been in major molt for almost two weeks. Boys loose their long tail feathers and they look rough and ragged, then they feathers grow back in and they look all new and nice again.

Not looking forward to that!! My other chickens have feathers starting to fly at the moment and everywhere I look there are feathers! LOL

i've been saleing a few of the rooster feathers to women for there hair they make these hair clips out of them pretty cool looking .
