My one Austin chick hatched a few minutes ago. Unfortunately it looks like it will be white. White is all I'm hatching these days.

i put 2 nests on each of serama pens but my hens won't lay in their nest boxes i keep finding them in their cage floors i don't know if they hate it or they prefer to lay on the floor only one has layed her eggs in the nests. can anyone post pics of their nest boxes they use also how do u know if they want to hatch their own eggs should i leave few eggs to see if they do or does anyone have a better method

YOu will know they are "broody" because they spread out like a pancake on the floor, in a corner, in the next box, wherever like they are covering a batch of eggs......even if there are NO eggs.

They will growl at you when you try to move them and some will flap and peck at you too.
You will know.

Perhaps this is totally coincidental, but I just switched foods for my Seramas about a week ago, and I'm seeing a big difference in tail feathers already. I was using a Show N Grow formula, but switched to the Purina Nutriblend Pigeon food, that many folks recommend, and my oldest rooster ( 8 months old) who has never had any height to his tail at all, has suddenly improved. I even see some sickles starting to emerge!
