Have you tried any of the 'saver' sites? Like Priceline or similar? I don't know how well they work on airfare, but I know last winter when me and a friend went to the Bluegrass Poultry Association's winter show and needed a room, we used one of those sites and each got a normally $75 room for $30.

I had ordered some lavendar Orp egss and they are in the incubator and I had a few serama eggs. After the local county fair I had some 4-h kids who really wanted a serama to fit and show because of their personality and size, so I figured what the heck and threw a few eggs I had in the incubator....so here is #1. This baby is so sweet. Lovin' up to me. Keep peeping and waiting for his/her siblings.

very nice ! its going to be a mottled color looks like black or maybe blue! hard to tell from the pick . but congrats ! the kids will love them .

The dark on the baby is black. It is funny. I go in there (the bathroom) and the baby comes running up to the edge of the Brinsea and pecks at the clear plastic. I took it out and it is making "love you momma" sounds to me. LOL...makes my heart melt. I know it will have a sibling soon...eggs are doding their thing, but I could just take the baby and keep it cuddled against me. Make it a house chicken...ya just what I need.

eta: Oh, and thank you.

Make sure your chick starter is very finely ground. They can't eat big pieces. I also supplemented with hard boiled egg yolks, all smushed up. They loved that.

We tried that with our first shipped Serama eggs, but ended up with a boy, so he had to go

He has a great home though, and we can visit, so it's all good (his name is Frankie as in Sinatra). The lady who took him actually has one of my Ameraucana roosters that I had bought as a guaranteed hen at 17 weeks, and then at about 23 weeks started looking roo-ish and crowing (his name is Gabby because he was always making noise about something even before the crowing).
