Thanks Froggie.......I did enjoy it and I know how they change as illustrated by my last hatch. None of them look anywhere near the same. I had just remembered something about the "cleopatra " eye line and spots on the head indicating maybe a cocopop??? Something like that but I guess it is not important or someone would have remembered. I just love watching the changes on a daily basis. That to me is the best part of hatching and raising this breed. They are each a new surprise. Aside from Lucky, the whites are the first ones I want to sell. The colors of the other roos are amazing. I think the 3 month old hatch I have now had several cocopops so I think this trio tends to produce them. I am getting a real good handle on what they give me. I have some breedings planned but have to isolate the original rooster from his 2 girls before I do more breedings. I feel so badly putting him alone and I am afraid he will fight with the younger ones. I guess eventually I'll figure it out. I have to set up more cages to separate them. Wish I could sell 3 of my roos now to make room. I have a white smooth and a white frizzle and a black and white mottled frizzle that could go as I do not have a breeding plan for them. Everyone has been fine and no more tragedies, thank goodness.

NW, there are a lot of people with good birds that will help you out with a nice rooster. Many of us are very nice people and like to help others instead of criticizing everyone's birds. Talk to me privately or any other HELPFUL person on this thread and we can find you someone with a nice rooster.

A lot of people have bred OEBG to Serama and have NOT bothered to tell anyone they sold/gave the birds to that they were mixed. Unless you get from someone that is a well known breeder or who can tell you exactly where there birds came from for a few generations, it is hard to tell what the birds are for sure.

Serama come in all qualities and colors and are fascinating no matter what type they are. It is also NOT necessary to spend hundreds and thousands of dollars on them ( and brag about it) to have nice birds.

You do just have to be patient and buy a few nice birds. Especially get a nice cockeral and a couple of good hens.

So don't let anyone run any of you off, thinking that you have to be a money spending fool to get nice birds.

Got my results back. Both chicks showed meningitis cause by herpes lesions........MD. Hope the rest have some natural immunity to it. I'm watching them like a hawk. They say that at 7 or 8 months, they have a little more immunity to it.

Herpes lesions are positive for MD.........Merecks Disease. I will just hold my breath. Wish you were right.......like your conclusion better.
Congrats on your NPIP-AI testing. It is good to know that everything was healthy.

CRAP! I am so sorry....Jeffers have the MD vaccine and I buy it 6 at a time because of shipping cost. I think its 14.95 each. I vaccinate all the birds. But its not always garenteed.
