As for what color they will be....haven't a clue....the second one is a back tailed buff /wheaten something or another??? I think?? I am still learning my colors so bear with me.....I am guessing.....
Here is my theory......get a nice 1# box of chocolates, open it / close yer eyes and pick one....thats sort of what the color will be on the first guy...

She did mention that the baby chickie has been getting excited and flies up and crashes into the cage... So I wouldn't rule that out.
I guess time will tell. In the mean time she will be getting another video and some pictures for us to look at.

My little Fluffy injured her hip on some cage wires and a water cup. I'm not sure how she did it, but whenever I touched her hip (it was clearly swollen) she would try to jerk out of my hands. She didn't use her wings for balance but her pain was so bad that I made a chicken hammock for her with some leg holes. She did not want to put any weight on it, poor thing. She would even lay down on her side. She was up and walking normally after a very short period (a week or so? I'm getting old) of getting pampered and babied and now acts like nothing ever happened to her.

The new video should help us to figure out what's going on.

YUP, the $64,000 question! Yup, it sure does help to have ALL the information.....crashing in the cage--head injury possibility. I have a question.....the mealworms...when I give mealworms the birds turn into velociraptors and will kill/ rip me limb from limb to get those worms. This birdie was actually leisurely eating the worms? What do you think?

I like to bite open the chocolates and put them back if they don't taste good.

I am an eternal optimist, but I DO THINK you need to consider early Marek's disease in this bird. Vitually all flocks WORLDWIDE have been exposed to the virus. Not all birds or flocks, however, exibit the symptoms. It is like cancer in chickens...caused by a virus. Some will get it and exhibit symptoms and some will not. The vaccine does NOT stop the spread of the disease per se. It simply helps that particular chick to not develop the disease or become symptomatic. Chicks should be vaccinated as day olds. Do you happen to know if this chick was vaccinated?

My condolences to them.

It's a pretty tough thing to watch especially when a chick is a special pet to a child.

Chicklett-Sorry to hear the results were positive for MD, but it doesn't surprise me. I think the disease is much more prevalent than anyone wants to admit. It sure makes me want to vaccinate every chick I hatch.

I think it is a neurological problem caused by either a vitamin deficiency or mal-absorbtion of vitamins...I would isolate the bird, continue multi vitamins (including E and B, make sure she eats and drinks and give her some time.

how do you give a tiny chick a shot?? just wondering, i have given meds to my big birds, but am thinking after you losing these two, maybe it should be automatic to vacinate?

i had to give my serama pair baths again for mites- seems a constant problem- need to get some frontline....
