I trim the beak but I dont know if the toe nails would bleed so I dont try that but thanks Kate for the heads up will dont next time I'm at home ...
 
I hear ya! You can also try and just file a bit if you're afraid of clipping too short. Or, if you go to Omar's Exotic Birds, there is one in Brea and one in Lake Forest, you can get perches that are like a heavy duty sand paper and put those in the cage and they will help keep the length down.
 
They are relatively cheap. Some pet stores might have them or I do know that if you are handy at all, you can glue a coarse sand paper to the perch or put on a portion of the bottom of the cage maybe where they eat and that will help wear the nails down a bit.
