I was so sad about Bill's losses too but never fear, I'm working on a nice pair in his favorite colors to send to him when I have them. I am getting a lot of eggs right now. I have shipped eggs and they had some hatch but it can be so tough when you pay for eggs and get nothing. I'll probably sell some hatching eggs here soon but only for pick up or if there is some sort of "egg train" we could put together for some of us to meet with eggs, and get them to the next person and so on.
In the meantime, I'm setting all I can. I just set 7 eggs out of my silver pen to take the place of some in the hatcher now. I have some Araucana eggs that should pip today sometime and hatch sometime tonight late or tomorrow.
Thanks Froggie. I want some of all type
Right now I have a black chick that could be a micro. I kind of hope not, I'd rather it be a decent sized A or small B but for now, it's just a cutie living in a gallon sized glass aquarium on the desk. It's old enough to show the new chicks, as they hatch, where to find food and water and not so large it's a bully. It will have to be a lot bigger to get to live in the garage in a heated brooder even. The chick that hatched a day after this one and it will stay on the desk till it has a suitable buddy to go to the garage with. For now, they're both table top buddies.
I Love my Traditionals best but eventually, I plan to have some American type (simply put, some that are approved varieties for ABA and APA). I figure it will be a while though. I hope to see black next up for approval and if I have any good enough, I think it would be fun to be part of that and have some blacks to help out. I have the third generation of blacks now with these 2 chicks. I have a new black rooster that will help a lot and with another couple of generations, if I have them even close to correct I'll be so happy.
I would love to eventually see some of the more extreme type. One of my black pullets is sort of but not mature yet so I'm just going to have to wait to see how she finishes.
My wish would be to see all of these varieties flourish........and take over the world
