Ah, okay. But you were actually one of the people I was talking about when I said a few sold them. Because I know you sell mixed eggs. I'm only looking for about 6. I noticed that alot of people only have a few, and those people usually sell mixed eggs, silkied, frizzle and smooth. But it seems like the people who have alot just don't sell eggs only birds. It makes me sad.I guess I can understand though, cause you'll make more money off a grown bird than eggs, but I think the money from eggs probably in the end makes you more money than a few birds. But I don't know. Also it is a bit of a pain to ship. I wish I could sell my eggs, but right now I only have two nests and the girls aren't laying very much at the moment. I really need a silkied girl, it would be so nice if someone close to me sold silkieds, there is two that I know that have silkieds but no silkied girls for sale. And I just don't have the money right now to buy a bird and have it shipped. *Sigh* Se la vie.![]()
Townhouse,
Not a lot of people sell hatching eggs because of the very poor hatch rate for shipped Serama eggs. If you think the young Serama's are expensive, consider paying a fair amount for shipped eggs, and pay shipping, then get nothing hatched. Try again and maybe get one chick.....in the long run, it's far cheaper to buy a young bird. Most won't sell them younger than 4 months because they're too small and fragile to be shipping them any younger and most won't sell till 6 months, at which time you can better tell if they will be show or at least breeder quality or pet quality. So, please don't feel sad, it's in everyone's best interest to buy well started chicks (4 to 6 months old). I will sell hatching eggs but there are no guarantees once they leave home.
I think I would rather buy the bird. NWCHICKEN GUY bought an auction and I sent him 18 eggs in the mail. 14 were good. They were shipped. Then I sent another batch to another winner of I think it was 15 and 6 are good but they shipped across the USA. My luck I would get them and they would be cracked or something. I think the only reason they had good eggs is because of my packing in the foam. Buy some young ones like 4 months or a pair of adults.
ya it is better to get young birds, eggs you are taking that chance,I have bought eggs still will but your best bet the live birds. I will have some in about 2/3months hatching now.
Yeah, I can understand that. Eggs are just easier for me, because they're cheaper and I do enjoy hatching. I only get paid once a month and I don't get paid very much. So I have to make the money last for a while. It's also really hard to just find pullets/hens, most people sell them in pairs, which I can understand as well because they don't want to have extra boys. But I have to many boys as it is. Also not alot of people sell Silkieds whether in eggs or birds. SG?? SeramaGirl?
AHHHH, They are BEAUTIFUL! Hand painted? WOW, you make them your self too dont you?![]()
