My mentor came yesterday! We used my sled and her 3 dogs and ran in my back pasture. The dogs couldn't find our makeshift trail too well and when they did, they turned really sharp and we tipped the sled. Thankfully my snow hook fell out and stopped them. At least I know it works. After we got them again she unhooked 2 of them and just I rode behind with her strongest dog pulling and she walked beside me. She told me some things I gotta get (quick change runners, vet wrap for my handle, different clips, etc). All in all it was really fun. :)

I like Cinna best. Why do you think Solaire would be your choice? Oh, by the way, they are only $100 (in my understanding, kinda cheap) and they were born September 29th so about 4 months. Perfect time to begin training.

Yeah, it might be a while, though.
I think Solaire would have better feet and more stamina. Angulation of bones and foot size looks good to me. just seems to be more of a "solid ways" looking dog.
But you never know , looks can be decieving. I know that for sure.
$100.00 each!!!??!!

I would take them both for that price. That's pretty darn good. Especially if the parents are tried and true.

Nala gave birth on November 5th I believe from 7:40-8:30 at night

I know not to add alot of weight yet, but I don't know when to actualy start adding weight.
Isn't it 6months you start foot work and little weight?

Like I need help on what should I be doing with him right now besides obedience training?
He's used to being outside, he wears a buckle collar( Pink) he is used to a normal house dog harness, I'm still figuring out how to make a adjustable X-Back to start line out training and just getting him used to it,

Is there anything else I should be doing?
ya. Put him on a chain outside and never jerk on his collar or harness if you ever want him to pull a sled.
He'll always remember the emotional and physical pains of pulling at a pressure on his neck and being "corrected"/"scolded"/etc for it. So do not jerk or pull him around or use his collar or harness to "correct" any "undesirable" behaviours.
A dogs hip joint is forming till he/she is at least a year old. The cartilage(cushion)and lubricant is thin and easily injured(bone on bone) FOR LIFE.
I don't put weight on my dogs ill they are at least a year old and i have dogs that 10-12 and they still work, with their children and grandchildren.
Okimaw lead my sleds for 14 years sometimes with his grt-grandchildren. I didnt load him till he was 1&1/2 years.

Ryton. I'm glad for you. Kinda jealous too because I never got to go out with a mentor.
My Grampa told me stories about what and how he did it, but he was old and could not have done it again even if he wanted. I'm sure he did want to tho. He was only 78 when he passed. I was 15.
You young ladies are lucky to have mentors. Utilize that every chance you have. Appreciatte what Creator has given you....and give thanks.

Okay. I will keep that in mind when I go to look at them. :) Cinna looks a lot like my mentor's dog Tut (her strongest that pulled me while she walked).

Yup! :)

What I Kent by weight was 2-4 lbs nothing much..
So I'm kinda in a pickel..., Hank is going to be my 4-H show dog, how do I not ruin him for sled but train him for show?
No weight. Not yet.

Like I said before make sure your commands are different. If he's any thing like Cindy, my 4h and sled dog, he will learn the difference between the pressure of a collar and leash and the pressure of a harness .

Thanks guys, sorry if I made it more difficult then needed. Lol

Nala learned the differents between Showmanship lead, reg collar and her harness. If Hank takes after Nala then I think he'll be fine.… I hope lol

Today when I took Hank out with me to tend to my rabbits, I tied him to a post (6ft leash, looking into making him a setup soon, I just don't know how large he's going to be lol) he did OK, he fought it, he got tangled then untangled all by himself. Tomorrow in going to give him more rope/leash. I can't ring our cable tie outs :/ but I'll keep looking.

I think I'm going tomstart putting Hank and Nala on tie outs so Hank has company, lol
