We have had a bare winter. Cindy has gotten lots of compliments from my mentor, she rarely has slack in her tug line. Only when we are stopped.
That kind of female is good to have. If you ever want her to have pups put a rangy(rayn-jee as in longlegged, not ran-gee as in agressive.)
Female for mental, Male for physical.
Or wait, is she the one that's spayed. if so thaz 2 bad.

She's spayed sadly. I highly doubt I would be allowed to breed her anyway even if she wasn't

Awq. too bad.
Baby was a female from Robin and Stinky. She was an awesome awesome puller. true to the last step. even when she was injured she didn't like being unable to pull. the last trip out I had to put her in the sled and restrain her because she would jump out and run to her spot and "pull". Sadly that was her last run, she died that spring/summer from her injuries incurred from a scrap with another female. But all her offspring are hard workers like her. Even her grandchildren and grt grand children are. It's in the genetics.....90+% of the time from the female.

I guess tho in this case I'm beating a dead horse. But that(above) is info that you most likely will find helpful if you are intending on becoming a serious musher.
K. gota go. gettig real stir crazy now. TTYL

Awesome! Yeah, I wish Cindy wasn't fixed, she would be a great mother.

Yep. I just a bike but I will be getting a scooter soon.

So do I. I might wait on the scooter though. The bike is perfect for just the 2.

OMGoodness. I started with 1..... then eventually worked my way up to 48 then 68 then down to 39 then 27 then 10 now 16 adults. I'm  good for now. let's hope you don't get that far until/if you are totally ready/responsible. I could see how your dad may feel upset and even angry.
I wish you well in your endeavors to be a musher. It is an excellent physical activity wit a lot of mental, emotional and yes even spiritual perks.....  if your your dad don't get so upset as to put an end to so many dogs on the property.....  which I hope doesn't happen.
"team of 6", "pull and keep it up"...    Ya eh, best case scenario, use everyone else's dogs( everyone else's responsibility to feed and care for) as well as your own(responsibility) to pull a sled. :thumbsup
:bow Haha, now I wish I had thought of that.

Yeah. I think my sister's pup would be great since she's mainly McNab (really good all-around breed) with a little heeler. And the about the same age as Cinna so I think I will probably train them together. My sis doesn't really want me to train her to pull the sled, though. Don't know why.... :idunno Anyways, if I were to ever go to one of the close little races and compete, I would probably get some funny looks... Oh well! XD

Good news.
I acquired another sled. 8ft L. 3&1/2' of it ski, 4&1/2' of it bed of which 2' is flat, the rest being a long slow curl, and another 1&1/2' of brush-guard.
Another new to me procurement(ooooooo! big words now. What next?)...... a mushing buddy sold and delivered to me a rather well used but in good condition 8 hole dog transport unit.:love (ya...luv my unit. T'was a long time coming)   A coat of paint and it'll be "shine" .
The holes are 24"H X 24"W X 32"L, 4 on each side, and it has a cargo space of 24"H X 24"W X 8'L right down the middle front to back.
Of course y'all know me being a man I'm gona hafta "tweek it". I want to add a 36"W X 36"H X 8'L "cabin" on top and take out the "cover of the existing cargo space. That would create a "living space" for me with "bench and sleeping area and a lot more storage area.... and maybe even a couple extra holes for more and/or larger dogs.

I've also purchased another gang-line and staging-line as well as some chain for replacing the old worn-out ones I have.
I've also been offered a gig on the 14th that's gona pay $1500.00.
I smell fresh bloodlines coming to my dog-yard:celebrate ..so I think I'm gona accept that offer...Ya think:lau
other news....I can't seem to get my puppy pix on. I"m waiting for my daughter to help me get them off her "My Pictures"or "Photo Shop" or "Camera Roll" or whatever thingy she has.
As soon as she does that I'll post the puppy pix and some pix of my new equipment and maybe even a short video of my team hauling wood or something.
That's all for now. I've been up since 5:30 and only went outside to check-on the puppies and take water to them and I drank lotsa coffee:caf  ....
so I'm getting a little stir crazy.:weee
It's been nice seeing all the posts and catching-up with y'all.

Rez out for now.

Awesome! What kind of 'gig'? Giving rides or some sorta presentation or something? Either way, right on. :) Ooooo, dog box/camper (kinda) interesting. Does it go on the back of a tuck or is it on a flatbed trailer? Because if it's on the truck, that's gonna be kinda high up.

What training schedual for my 5 month old pup should I use? Right now, I'm getting her used to booties and running out in front of the bike. She doesn't actually pull because she isn't hooked up to it, I just hold the leash and peddle. She's doing really well but when should I start letting her pull light stuff? As in an empty bucket or something to get her used to noise behind her? I've read that at 6-7 moths to hook her up to a small tire with an older dog and let them pull it a short ways. What do you guys think?

Just some pics of Nala's training session yesterday
I brought Hank along on a 30ft line made for training Hunting dogs.
Figured out that, when Nala is hucked up with another dog she'll lead, but she won't Single Lead even if the dogs behind her, I did not use Hank, I used my dads lab cross.
Hank went to possibly learn a few things, I don't think he did lol

Hank has been staying outside 24 hrs a day for the last 3 days. Finaly got mom to say yes! So I'm buying him a harness, buying me a double lead tug starter then buying Nala her New Harness then buying a belly band and this leash made to train lead dogs and by may I should be training both for lead!!! I'm rigging up my bike to start running Nala with that while she pulles the sled thingy lol

I heard that they can start pulling empty milk jugs at about 8-12weeks the snowmobile tracks at like 8-12 months
Idk about any inbetweens though

What are you going to train her for? Lead? If so nows a good time to start line out training. Harness her and hook her to a sturdy pole or something and place her food to where she has to lean into her harness to get the food. Then tell her line out or what ever your command is.
I'm doing this with Hank and Nala, yes Nala cuz she's stubborn so im refreshing her memory lol

Yeah lead. I know I have to get her used to noise behind her and such but not sure when she can start pulling weight. I'm debating on whether or not I want to teach her gee, haw, line out, ect. in another language. It would be cool, but the older dogs only know gee/haw/line out in English, lol.

Teach her both :) then when ur one on one with her, us the other language, maybe? lol

Okmso my parents are putting up a fence this summer and mom was like Alyssa now u don't need those house.
I still need the stake outs and houses for when there not playing in then yard or working, the chain keeps them fit and not using the energy they need to work.
I have to explain more to her but she's with it still, she's just not happy but she wants me to be happy and she wants me to be responsible so buying all this stuff and working the dogs ect. Will show that, and hopefully soon I can buy 1-2 more dogs. Depends on how well my 2 dogs do. I'm excite for next winter when Hank should be working with Nala but definently in 2017 I'll have a working 2 dog team at least lol
