I am not intentionally singling out any one. This message is for everyone. I put this out there in all the discussion pages, sites or whatever these things are called.

I recently became aware of this "rescue service" take some dogs from a racing kennel because "basic needs" weren't being met. Apparently basic needs is having her ovaries, fallopian tubes and uterus cut out and his testicles cut off and trained to sit on a couch or stay in a cage all day and let out only to pee and poop on command. Yes this part of the training process for "rescued" dogs.
It's like "its so frigid in the arctic and polar regions. Let's go catch all those poor freezing PolarBears eating big ugly Walruses and fat Seals and disgusting tasting ArcticChar and take them the nice warm AfricanCongo jungle and train them to eat only tender vegetation and sweet bananas. They'll sure do good there in that nice hot, humid jungle with all that herbs and fruit"
If anyone believes that I have some ocean side property in Arizona that I can give this amazing deal if you buy it from me.
My point you ask.... Puppies actually should be born outside if they are to be living outside rather than being born in a nice warm, somewhat humid environment and the moved outside to a cooler, dryer environment.
Puppies are tough yes, but I think it's absolutely human minded to acclimate any body/thing, especially a baby, to an environment then switch them to a different one. It's hard on the entire system, growth, immune system, hair, ears, eyes, bones, brain...the whole system.
All humans have my blessings to try it. Go outside and stay there in a tent for a cpl months then go back in the house for a cpl months then go back to the tent for a cpl months.

It is extremely hard to see clearly through eyes clouded by a mind of "human ego" clutter and judgment.

Now when I truly open my eyes I see the PolarBear is indeed an animal that has evolved over thousands and thousands of years to live where and how it IS, a PolarBear. That ISit's environment. If I take even just one from there to the jungle it will most likely die. It is a carnivore. It is built to live up north. It is POLAR Bear ! And if it doesn't die rightaway in the jungle it may eventually find and mate with the local bears. Then when it does die and the offspring and offspring of offspring and theirs and theirs.... .....hence, no more polar bear.

We as humans need to awaken our own spirit and mind to defeat our inflated ego in order to see through open eyes.

Again, this is for every human......short, tall....big, small..old, young...not just one,...all. I'm a poet and I know it.

I hate it when rescue people take people's animals when they are doing perfectly fine. Yes, they are helpful with strays and such but animals that have homes already?! Sometimes I am amazed at people when they think they know everything....

Pipoon and Max are in the pen. He's a real gentleman compared to most males I have.
I think the pups will be born around my birthday. That'd be cool.

It's snowing here rightnow. Nice big fluffy flakes, swirling and twirling rightnow but small flakes earlier. probably again later. With winds from 20MPH to 40MPH it looks like blizzard on the lee side of the house when the snow gets blown off the roof. Definitely "wood fire" heat weather.

I got freaked out last night. My dogs were making a racket about midnight. It wasn't like when a stray comes around. I knew something was up by the way they were barking and yelping and yowling. I got my headlight and on second thought grabbed my big flashlight.
The dogs quit making a racket, but I was halfway there anyway.
For an odd reason I stopped at the feed shack and grabbed the hatchet. Now keep in mind there is a trail through the bush to a clearing where I keep my dogs, the feed shack and the gear hut.
When I got to the clearing I put my headlight on. The dogs of course knew I was there but some kept looking south. Ooooo, forgot to mention there was a south wind.
I circumnavigated the area and then walked upwind for a bit then saw eyes reflecting. I instantly got the willies. I knew it wasn't a coyote wolf or deer by the height and color of the reflection. It was a cougar. I didn't go any further. I just backed up closer. When it looked away I started backing up towards the dogs. The next time I saw the reflections it was about a hundred yards further east of where I first saw it. I had seen that color reflections and movements before. Never saw one in daylight. Freaked me out. So I turned around and quite quickly walked back to the dogs knowing they would be OK.

Well that's my news for the day.
TTFN. Going to a hockey game. Catch up to y'all later.

Puppies for your birthday, awesome. Cougar, not so awesome. A bit scary....

He's my boy hank

And it's free to take and post pics. It only uses my data.
I don't have many pics yet cuz I'm getting a backdrop for the pics.

Cute!

Ya, tough one. Maybe a compromise can be made. Play the part of the devils advocate maybe,,,,, tell mom dad don't want any, tell dad mom wants 4 and tell them both you want just 2.
2 is good to start with. You're young. 13 right? If i remember you mentioned that some where a cpl months ago. 100- 130 lbs?(Guessing here)
They'll be able to pull you. If two 50 lb youngsters can pull me for a 3/4 mile and back at a run then it should be nothing for yours to pull you when they reach 10 months.
PS. The term devils advocate is being used figuratively.

I think that might be me you are talking about, though it may apply to Stern Rose as well.

Sorry I've been gone a while, mom took my phone away. Anyways, my aunt and I might get to go mushing with a tourist place who takes people on sled rides. It's more for tourists but I don't care. I will get to learn the basics in person and get to mush for a few hours. Better that nothing, I guess. I really hope I get to go. :) Oh, and we have like 6 in of snow and its below 20*F every night. Mushing weather.

LOL. B-day pups. Yup, awsome. Cougar. Yup yup, scary. I ain't afraid of much but cougars.... Lets say "they ain't one that I ain't scared of". Them are sneaky and deadly. Very worthy of a highest degree of respect.
It doesn't really matter who it was that triggered the thought process that authored the story. If any part of it relates to anyone,it's about them. I know it's about me.
Glad you're back. I also hope you get to go.it would kinda if they went and you stayed behind. After all you wana mush right. They just wana holiday?
Do something different?
Of course it's better than nothing. Someone will be there teaching you as you watch and then hands on. I just heard stories then fumbled when it came time for hands on. Taking into consideration I'm a very visual human, I did quite well. Now indeed if I had the chance that you've got.....sorry, might have coming.
Where the heck you live? I live in Central Manitoba and we only got 3&1/2" of snow and we be lucky to get down to -20* at night.
Oh heck ya you're on F. Haha. Duh me. I'm on C

Hey humans, good news. My trail froze good after I dragged it. I took out 4 older dogs this eve. Got home just after the sun set. It was cold.
But I had a nice warmth in my heart.
I hope to take out 4 or 5 young with a couple of older leaders tomorrow. I'm excited.

Oops, sorry charnic44.
I didn't read your quote properly. I mistakenly thought you were referring to the long story. You know about the PolarBears and the pups.
And ya. I think Stern is 13. So you are too eh? Geez, a lot of girls are getting into mushing eh. It seems the boys are lazy.
Oh, sorry. I mean young ladies. One of my daughters is 13 and she hates being referred to as a girl.
But yeah, even world wide, way more young ladies than young men.

I live in Montana. Today was in the 40*(F) so most of the snow melted but we will be getting a storm in a few days and are scheduled to get 4+ inches.

Well, I will be 14 in like, 2 weeks. I kinda agree with your daughter, though. Then again, sometimes I wish I was 5 again, life was easy. Eat, play, sleep; easy. Lol

I'm almost 15, in like 6months. Lol

Haha We aren't too far apart. Hey Americano Blue, you are around our age, too, right? Just wondering. :)

Gee, I'm just old compared to you guys eh. Oooooops. Did it again didn't I. Sorry..... ...young ladies.
I'm happy for y'all getting into mushing. It's good for us on so many levels. Mental, emotional, physical and yes, yes even spiritual. If 3 feel good the other don't have too much of a choice to follow suit.
It got pretty warm here today too. Snow dropped a bit. sunk?? compacted?? Melted a wee bit and compacted on itself because of it's own weight because the warm weather made it kinda wet........... Hahaha. Trail is good though. The wind switched from the south to the north and its starting to get cold now. I think we're gona get some more snow. I hope my girls get energetic and come mushing with me.

And, yeah. I remember a lot from my childhood. Most of it anyway. It sure was a good life.

I live in Central Manitoba. It's warm today. It was yesterday too. Too warm for my dogs. Even though they'd love to go out I think I'll just go for a mile or so. Just to let them know I'm thinking about them. We are getting a little more snow tonight and again tomorrow. Apparently 2-5 inches both days. And colder for next week.down to -20-23*C by Tuesday Wednesday. Kinda winter.....
Fro sure better mushing weather.

Status update.
I bought some new rope yesterday. It's called Derby rope. I got 22 feet of 7/16" in Azure(blue) and white in keeping with my color scheme.
I made 1 continuous line for both snow hooks on my big sled. I use as many as 10 K9's on that one. I used a triple half-hitch directly to the mainline instead of the carabiner. Of course there is a short but stout "shock ring" between the sled and the mainline.
This new rope apparently has a breaking strength of a soft (slowly added)4400 lbs or 2700 lbs hard(fast jerk) and has a bit of give(it stretches).
1 day I will get someone to come and take pix of all my dogs and some of the equipment and have them posted here.

FYI. My equipment is sometimes looked at with strangeness due to the fact that it's not "conventional".
But my ideas are quickly scooped and used elsewhere and then "owned" by the ones that initially ridiculed it. These guys and gals are then touted as geniuses for "their"..."innovative"..."design"...and/or..."modifications".
One for example, a quick release that is made of antler(a simple "peg in hole") attached to a short piece of rope on the snow hook line. It stays with the snow hook when released from the snub. It was taken and "modified" by some visitors to my place and then others saw it and started making it out of plastic.
But you know what, that's good because Mooshoom's ways are being used by thousands of mushers now.
Actually I guess that wasn't such a good example since that specific piece was passed on to Mooshoom from his old people so in reality it wasn't really mine to begin with eh.
But a lot of my methods/tools/equipment is/are my own design. I'll share with y'all one day when I get pix up on here.
K. Enuf chat. My lunch is settled. Time to water the stock and hookup.
