Hi, i got grounded :/
we should get snow soon, but by the time we get snow, the sled i want will be gone so i have to try to get it now. By trying i mean I've been waiting for a response.

nice. I get to run with my mentor again. I've been super busy on weekends (Plus the trails are mud.)  and its dark when i leave for school and dark when i get back so i cant run then. :(    It should snow soon though. YAY!!

Oh. Kinda figured that's what was up. But me and my need to feel all "wise, helpful and fatherly.....
I hope you get snow right after you get your sled. For that matter I hope you get your sled soon.
Holy. Dark when go to and come home from school? Do you live in Tuktayuktuk?:lau
Gee, the sun is up for 45mins already when my daughters(just about said "girls") get on the bus and there's still enough day time left to hookup and mush for an hour after they get home. We don't always do that though. I think they are "too" into their "boyfriends". :idunno
Well it's late here. Tired. Long day cutting firewood.

Which hobby should I stick with?
Rabbits: Showing and Breeding
Or
Mushing: training and running

A few things:
Moms giving off the signs to choose 1
And I have 5 rabbits and 1 sled dog(nala)

I'm only choosing because mom doesn't know what to get me for Christmas, lol
I'm not dropping anyone hobby, it's just what hobby does mom buy for, for Christmas this year. Lol

I'm undesided. Lol HELP. Lol

I would personally choose mushing (I really don't like rabbits ((my sisters' have given me scars from their nails)) so I'm a bit bias). But, I would say if you have things you need for one, ask for the other. Vise versa, so if you need mushing gear, ask for mushing stuff instead of rabbit stuff.

Yesterday, it was rainy and muddy but today I woke up to about 4 inches of sticky snow. Perfect for snow balls (great for sisters who need to get back to work  ). I got the snow, now I need the dogs. Quick question, how much do you guys feed your dogs and what do you feed? I'm trying to see how much it's gonna cost me to feed them.

depends on how hard they are working and weather. Each musher has a different feeding system. if you fish, have meat animals or hunt feeding will cost less.

First "bold".... Yup.

Second "bold"..... Dogs are not herbivores. Dogs are not omnivores. Dogs are carnivores.
I really like whole raw feed. Fish is probably the best.
I knew a man from my homeland area that fished on Lake Winnipeg with his team of 7 dogs. His leader actually listened for the jig and was always dead-on.
Any how these dogs slept outside in the snow with no straw or anything. Sometimes out on the lake...on the ice.
They would haul as much as 21 tubs of fish. Each tub weighed 60-100 lbs. each night them dogs each ate 1 Tullibee.
I personally prefer Whitefish, guts and all, for my dogs. They're a bit bigger(3-4+ lbs) and have a higher fat content.
Unfortunately I don't have access to fish just yet. I'm kinda stuck with commercial petfood for my dogs. Better quality commercial dogfood is more expensive to buy but cheaper in the long run since they are healthier(less $$ spent at vet) and your dogs live longer(less $$ spent buying dogs) than when fed cheaper "filler" dogfood.
More protein and fat(from animal) content and less cereal grains. When my dogs work hard they require more nutrition as opposed to filler.
20/15 is okay if you can acquire meat and fat scraps with a bit of soft bones.
An dog in working condition weighing 85-90 lbs requires about 4lbs of meat, about 4-6 oz of good fat, 1 tblsp of rice to cook, a tblsp of good grade cooking oil, 1 cooked turkey egg, and 1/16 tsp of doggie vitamin/minerals to maintain a healthy working body. And that's for rec mushing. When racing the meat and fat ratio would increase exponentially.
It goes without saying, water is king/queen. Water rules. Water is life.
I always make sure my dogs are hydrated. They love fish soup.

I hope this is helpful
