Still helpful though.

Hi everybody.
Nice to see that everyone made it through the holidays. We lost 3 people here. Natural causes. Cancer. All mothers, grandmothers and/or great-grandmothers.
Not a good Christmas for many people here.
But we survived, sober, drug free, appreciative of our lives and glad to be together for the season of Yuletide.
I got a fantastic for mushing underwear, some good base socks, homemade shortbread cookies, my baby bought me White Musk for Men by The Body Shop, Coconut Oil Soap, scented candles and a can each of Vanilla FeBreeze and Country Morning Breeze Lysol for my harnesses, mushing shack and mushing clothes. Life is good. My entire family got together, we ate, laughed, cried when an old family showed up after 10 years, laughed some ate some more and laughed a wee bit more. Then we went to my mom and dad's and ate and laughed some more. My tummy is still about ready to burst. But I need to pack some energy foods in there and get mushing. Not to brag or tease, but we got some nice snow and I'm a gona use it.
Aw. Bad news, my leader has an infection on his snout. Probably from the fight he got into with Patrick and Snowy. It just seemed to get bad over night. There's blood and puss on the snow beside his little snow nest he always lays in. He seldom sleeps in his house. I'm gons put him in with Mispoon and see if she'll lick his wounds. If that doesn't work I'll take him to the vet.

Rosie girl, I'm feeling kinda bad you didn't get Hank but happy you got the books. There's another good book for beginner mushers. It's title is Dog Driver A GUIDE FOR THE SERIOUS MUSHER. It's by MIKI AND JUDIE COLLINS.
Prepare yourself for mushing now.

Blue, I'm happy for you to be getting a quad to help you with training. I still do a great deal of my dryland training by running with my dogs. It's sometimes very trying but for a man that's over half century old I'm in pretty good shape. I weigh about 180 and still wear a a 31 inch waist pants(thats about a women's 12 or 13 I think).

Char, in the Cree language the term awtihm is used to describe what we call "dog" in English. The terms "misstahhee", "missikihtao", "misstahkihao"(many other terms) all make reference to "big" or "bigger" either inanimate or animate, "this (here)" or "that(over there)"
The term used to describe "horse" is "misstahtihm","big dog".

To all my my mushing daughters....
I know as humans (especially when we are younger)we can't seem to grasp time so very well and we don't have a really good idea of patience. Sadly our modern society is stricken with a child's mentality even as chronologically ageing individuals and as a matter of fact an entire society. Patience is a hard won prize in a society of haste and waste, working less and yet less time for play, a time of convenience and less time,.....
Enjoy having R&R provided for you. Enjoy what you have now and you will be provided with what is necessary to enjoy what you want later.....even if it's you that needs to provide it. What I'm saying is accept what you can't change, change what you can and be aware that change can be challenging on/at many levels.

Yesterday is gone never and we'll never see tomorrow. Today is tomorrow's yesterday.
I wana appreciate today and live well today.

I'm sorry for your loss. :( But I'm glad you got to spend time with family and friends. Hopefully your leader gets better. I don't think I'm pronouncing those terms correct and I sound funny trying to. But it's interesting, though. :)

My dad confessed he wants to keepmHank, I'm getting so nervous with all the people coming over tomorrow. 4!! I'm gunnaball my eyes outbwhen someone buys Hank!! I already told everyone that, haha

That's weird that the guy would just all of a sudden not like them. People are weird. :idunno Hopefully you get to keep Hank! That would be so awesome.

I hope you end up with Hank. Could you buy him yourself?

Already tryerd.
I also asked if we keep him, of we could make a list of prices for everything my parents pay for of his. So in 11\2years I could pay them back, maybe even sooner.
But mom said no because then I'd be thousands in dete at a young age. Lol,

Ok so I had this awesome idea yesterday to name my soon to be team, reindeer names,
Haha it would be cool.

HA! That'd be so cool.
Lol I'm getting some of those

My friend wants me to have a 13 dog male team named after all the dwarfs  from the Hobbit

Wow.
I had a dream over 30 years ago about a them of 13 dogs. My leader was a very heavy( lotsa black)black/white w/blu eyes.

Rez, do you have anytips on train a lead dog?

Yes. I have many ideas. Some of apparently work pretty good. My favourite is " spend lotsa time" with him or her or them.
Next favourite, use your own words especially for left, right, go and stop.
The more time you and your lead/s spend with each other the more trust you and good faith you gain for/with each-other. More indeed after training and you are both spending more time actually working it.
Good things take time. Better things take more time. Best, most.
Goodluck has very little( if anything) to do with it. Hard work has a great deal to do with it.
Do not be an idle worshipper. Talk is cheap.
If you are somewhat miffed/irritated by my many "coined phrases" let me assure you it's just to drive home the point, "spend lotsa time".
