Huh. I didn't think about that. Survival of the fittest, I guess. Yeah, the coat could be just about any color. She's had blacks, chocolates, yellows, and even a silver/grey pup before. Then again, I don't think any of the males were labs so that could've influenced some things. If I do get an Alaskan, I would spend at LEAST a year making sure she has exactly what I want in my next generation. Hey, maybe if you do put on that race, I will bring a female up (hopefully time it right when she's in heat ) and she could just spend the whole time up there until the race is over. That way, there's like a 95% chance she'd be bred.

Of course, you would pick your two and then we'd figure out a way to get them to you.
Precisely survival of the fittest.
ooooo, I saw a silver lab here in Manitoba. $600.00 but by the time we had the cash rounded-up it was already sold.
Later that month someone put up an add selling a SilverLab/Siberian husky. It was all a sivery blue with black under coat and it had amazing blue eyes. ears were stright too, not flopped like a Lab.
It was gone before I phoned. it was only posted for 2 hours before soone paid $400.00.
hmmmm. Bringing up a female at race time. Good one. I never thought of that scenario. People come up here from the States every year for races.
Yes, maybe something can be done that way. it would probably be easier than going through all the red tape of making a trip just for the breeding. Like a cover. Smart

Rez, where do u live? Lol. I need to Google how far away u are,

I live straight north of Winnipeg. y home is about 1/2 way between Hodgson and Peguis.
If you have GoogleEarth zoom in on Manitoba, put your cursor on 51*15'27.75"N 97*32'49.75"W and zoom in. My house is blurry but just in the high resolution you will see what looks like a cluster of round spots. thats where I keep my dogs.
Well maybe not exactly, the program I have is an older version of GoogleEarth. I've moved the dogs a little way from that precise location but very close.
You may even be able to notice my training trails in the feilds and the trails i use to haul wood BY DOG TEAM in the woods south of my home.
If you move your curser to51*17'16.80N 97*24'05.01W is where I took 5 American tourists to camp overnight one March a few years ago.
Real widerness there. Boreal bog and forest, wolves, moosem deer, cougar. it was -30*C that night in a teepee but we were safe and relatively warm.
So LMK what happens.

Yeah. Silvers are 'rare' so people will pay a lot for 'em. My cousin had a silver we were gonna breed to but she neutered him before she came into heat. :( I would much rather breed an Alaskan to one of your males but maybe in a few years, I will be able to come and bring a female even if I'm gonna just watch/help out.

Ya, I ain't into Labs but I woulda paid for the silver purebred. There are people here that would've been knocking at my door for matings.
Yes I have a strong propensity for huskies(general term) but I know how people are regarding cool & different things and I will cash in on it if I think I can handle the inner turmoil of going against the wind.
And that silver tipped black Lab/Sibe with blue eyes and stand-up ears.......... :drool. All I can say is

Whether or not we are aware of it, at a deep down level we know things. Something in the eye, the stance, the coat...it all tells a story.
Even though most of us are not conscious of it just yet, right off the hop we recognized these dogs are "good-ole-boys" of the sled dog.
Of course we want them bloodlines in our dogs.
That's how I chose the roots of my lines and the reason there are so many breeds in them.
I saw outstanding traits and here we are 20+ years later
Please don't get me wrong, i am fully aware there are pure breeds and other Xbreeds that are good animals.
But it's kinda like comparing Appaloosas to Clydesdalses. Both have their merits. Personall opinion and practicality play a role in my choice on the App.

That's what I think anyway.
K. Snack is settled. Gota go.

My wife told me I would make a good politician. I asked her what would entice her to say that and she responded" Because you'd make a good BSer." I said"WHAT?! Why would you even say that?" She laughed and told me that most people don't know how to bring blatant honesty & truth together without sounding like an out&out braggart or BSer. She added"The fact you bring them 2 worlds together without pretentiousness is hard for most to comprehend." I had to think about that for a while. I still am.
I ain't a woman. I don't really understand "woman talk". Y'all are young woman. What does it mean? Is she telling me I'm being a braggart? Or is she saying my level of honesty is hard to comprehend?... .... a bit of both? bad? .....good?
I honestly don't know why that is laying so heavy on me today.:
Maybe cause I'm seeing myself getting old???
ANYWAY..... Lunch over. Tummy settled. I'm outa here. Got wood to cut and throw into woodbox..........amongst other things.
T T Y'all L.

Its snowing finally. the trails I'd made through the bullrushes were just that....bullrushes. There'd been no snowfall to cover them. Tomorrow I'll be OK to mush, apparently. We'll see.
I knew it was gona snow because I get such a strong urge to collect firewood. Now when it's gona storm I feel like collecting firewood and fetching a deer or elk, or something else to,eat. ???? Just gut feelings.
