Hank loves the snow!! Every time I take him outside, I get piled around the yard! lol, I just started running with him. When I say halt he stops, when I say let's go he starts running again! He runs almost in a straight line but not always. Hanks so smart! I wasn't intending to start command work yet but...

I think Hank inherated the instincts from his grandparents and further back
Nala is okay at it, but I ruined her for lead(oops)
This is going to be interesting... Do I train Hank for lead but use him at wheel? I only have Nala and Hank right now...

Personally I think all dogs should know how to lead if they have to. Never know when you might need. I've had wheel dogs lead and team dogs wheel, point go to swing, swing to team, ...every which way. but of course I have my favorites for position and my"un"favorites too.
All the preceding said, there are some dogs that are definitely not "main leader" material. Some are too mean, some are too dumb, some are too stubborn, too proud, too lazy, too slow.... There are always opportunities for learning/ingenuity when it comes to mushing. Change can be a good thing.

OK so train all as lead dogs? Can do! Nalas not lead dog material she's more team.

I think it's OK. I havent had any probs with it. I like to see which ones can do it in the event that my main leader/s fail for some reason or another.
ya, it's true some just aint lead material. heck, some aint even sledder material in the sence they are lazy. but I stil put them on line and they kinda pull, ven if it's just for "moral support" for their bro or sis. no such thing as a useless dog. just gota find out where they shine.

Gee, all this past 8or9 days was beautiful mushing weather. Sunny and cold like-15to-25. I was housebound. Now that I am feeling better it clouds-up and starts snowing. Probably gona blow like the dickens for the whole weekend now. blow in my trails with all this light powder. aaaargh!!!!
Oh well. I am feeling healthier tho....and winter is mushing weather. aybe I'll get lucky and it won't blow too hard.
