90F is usually the very hottest we get here and usually in the end of July. Now, we've got record highs of 105F in June/July. Gah! Much much too hot. Also doesn't help when there's a drought and the irrigation water is being shut off until August. Normally I would just take the dogs out to the pond and let them cool off there but no irrigation water = no pond =It's nuts hot here. high 80's to high 90's. Maybe not hot compared to you guys down south but when we have a snowstorm in the middle of May this is dang hot. Some of my dogs are getting "sunspots". Thank goodness The Almighty gives us cool evenings. Recently there is a lot of forest fires in Northern Saskatchewan & South-Western Nunavut/South-Eastern NWT so that's producing heavy smoke haze in the sky blocking out a great deal of the sun. If it weren't for that smoke it would get stifling here. Yikes....I don't have air conditioning in the house either. Probably better-off without it. I've noticed a lot of homes with A-C have a lot of sik(summer cold)people.
Yay for the pups. Wapusk is a beautiful dog. Bulldozer looks a little goofy in that pic. Hopefully they aren't inbred. If they are, it's not the end of the world. After all, Wapusk and Bulldozer are only half siblings so it wouldn't be too awful. Bugs; the Mosquitos aren't so bad here but the grasshoppers are terrible!I like to see all the updates. Good work on your dogs Rosie. Blue, the video link you put up almost made me cry. It seems a world away from the summer heat. It may sound strange coming from someone who has winter(I mean WINTER) for 4or5 months every year. latest news Wapusk .![]()
whelped-out 4, 3 white(2F(1 very large,1Medium) 1 tiny Male) & 1 L/M Blk/W male. I'm hoping the father is Rex
and not her half brother Bulldozer
from Pipoon
& a different father Toba, a beauty Sibe.(sorry, no pix of Toba). Bulldozer may have contorted enough at the end of his chain to reach Wapusk when she was in heat but the Blk/W actually looks like Rex who got loose at that time. here's hoping. My birthday pups are getting big. They aint heavy but they are rangy. Projection of "dogonalitiy/ies"/hopeful positions: nikanastim is alpha dog and mokoman is alpha *****. I'm thinking team-point. Maybe nikanastim could go lead. ayimisiw(stern) is "the quiet one". He aint very approachable but he aint aggressive. Maybe bordering on submissive-aggressive. Probably good team or swing. naheyikok(nic of time) & sipikasew(he/she is blue) are both quieter"ish" but approachable. Gona be good team or swing I think. But for sure excellent wheel. opini(rosebud) is a noisy hyper little thing. Wow. she's also the escape artist as is mokoman. But her more approachable "dogonality" shows me she's probably gona be an excellent point with a lot of lead prospect when she learns to listen to what she's told. And sweet little msinasew(partly marked/pinto).... She will be the sweetest little pet. AAAAAAAARGH! She lacks the confidence to be single lead but because she is so devoted she is what I would need up front in the event of a run-away. So I think I'm going to put her up front with Burner for a few weeks after Feb., ahead of a small team to start her training. Of course all of them will have intro training before they start working hard. Like 2 mile runs kinda stuff. but I don't work my dogs till they are at least a year. but I guess I've mentioned that a few times eh. OK! starting to repeat myself. Yeah, so I'm kinda bored because I've been resting for a cpl of days. That's what some of us older guys do when we get sick. I no longer have the drive to run, breaking into a wicked sweat, to get rid of the sickness. Plus my body is getting pretty banged up/worn-out from my "hyper-active" life. But I still love mushing and can hardly wait for winter. What I like least about warm weather is the bugs. Mosquitoes, Bulldogs(Moose-flies?), Horse-flies(jet looking things), Black-flies, Sand-flies and these dang Woodticks. Geez I get more woodtick bites in 1 day than some people get from mosquitoes in a whole week. Well well....Getting a bit longwinded aint I . I'll give y'all a reak from my ranting on. Till next time my "mushing daughters". Love Y'all. Don't fight the system, change it. Perception is everything. Enjoy life. All we have is time, right now. Rez out for now.
Ooh, I like the last three. Mainly because there is room for gear/injured dog and it looks a little heavier so you could probably hook up more dogs and still be safe. The cabin sounds like a good idea. It'd be nice to have a space just for gear and sleds.OK. back on. Still in the house. woozy. But still able to type. I forgot to put up a Cpl of pix....and other news me very likey lotsnlots these "Traxcer"sThis MadMax is my fave. indeed if it came in BrightBlue metallic.

The last 3 look really tuff though. I think you can click on the pic for a larger image. I have recently purchased 2 sets of QCR aluminum rails and plastics for my sleds. I'm also building an insulated 8X12 cabin with a 9X8 loft. The over all height is 14feet of which 73" is main floor. It's main purpose is a storage and workshop just for the sleds and a sleeping quarters for when my house gets too crazy with people visiting. ...or when I'm delegated "to the doghouse" by my wife. I even cleared a place out-back (right beside the dogs) for it. I got a little 2000watt generator that'll run for 14hrs on a gallon of gas and have an electrical cable from my house JIC(just in case). I also designed my own collars and got in touch with a producer that has awesome colors of nylon webbing. I'll be getting my first 20 next Wednesday in TealBlue,TealGreen,BrightOrange, Pink, BrightPurple,NeonGreen and RoyalBlue. Maybe I post pix. Well....sick or not, the dogs and birds need to fed and watered. I'm gona ask my dotr to keep me company JIC I keel-over.LOL.
