Im not 100% sure if she is or not.. Just hoping not
Ihavet gotten to run the dogs yet :/ really buming me out. My dads baning 4-wheelers too :|
Its really hard training the dogs right now lol Nalas still in season. Plato's not allowed back until Spring. Hank REALLY needs to be hooked up with a trained team so he'll lose the playfulness( any tips?)
I found out that more than 2 hrs with any electronics makes me stutter( doc calls them mini seziers)
Ive been thinking about asking the local farmer( he runs his hunting dogs with a golf cart thingy lol) if he will hook Hank and Nala up for a few miles. Dad put his opinion on that... :|
Good News:
I'm closer to getting my horses! After them and a few poultry, I'm gunna start really saving and be a "Good Child" and beg(lol) my mom to let me get 1-2 Retired leaders/team dogs.? Ha
Almost forgot about getting a truck lol $5-10k there![]()
Duh! ya I see it now.LOL
Sparticus aint much of a one for petting and visiting but dang he's an awesome puller. And a pretty good leader too. After a hard gallop for 2 or 3 miles he'll break into a very steady hard pulling trot. He can keep that up for miles. Little wee Oreo....awwww... she's such a hard worker. Gee if all my dogs worked that hard I'd need only bout 10 0r 12 for The Pas and other sprint/stage races like Race To The Sky.
Too old to start with that now. Not so much old, but more smashed-up and worn-out. But ya never know.............
At any rate, I took 7 dogs on my cargo sleigh yesterday. We went 5 miles. It was a tad warm for them but they were happy to go.....me too..... dang it felt good.
Or hey maybe barrow or send Hank off to a trusted person for next Fall
The puppy playfulness will go away as he gets older. My yearling still has the puppy demeanor even hooked with an experienced team. Eventually it'll go away but she is all business when pulling. I know lots of mushers who have dogs for free/cheap who can't race any more but are excellent puppy trainers. Look for mushers as close to you as possible with retired dogs who can still run recreationally. I've found that mushers just can't afford to feed/care for dogs who are just sitting around. That's where I started. Even 1 leader would be enough to train Nala and Hank. And eventually Plato.
Look on here:

It snowed here too! Mainly in drifts but it's a start. I took 6 of 7 dogs out on the sled.
Yeah. That would work too. Finding someone somewhat close is the problem though. :/
Thanks Ill check it outyou should post pics of your team!
I found a few people a couple of states over that have pups 12 weeks -2 years for sell
Xenia's $400 the chicks are like $20 all together if I'm lucky I can find a truck for $2,500
The dogs are $150-$550
Selling the rabbits this upcoming spring so I can he 3-4 litters maybe more if I don't sell the buck until fall
So by next winter I could have $2,160 ju from those litters
All just estimates butmaybe they'll let me get 2( 1 catahoula & 1 Lead dog)
XD I'd take him for ya if I could lol.Hope the plan works lol
Anyone wanna take hank for a little bit? lol
