Have you heard that saying"Tou can't teach an old dog new tricks."? It's not true. You can. We just take longer to learn.:lau

OMG!!! So Friday I hooked them up bravely together for their first team run. THEY DID AMAZING! Listened for the most part. Nala, kept her line out and rearing to go. Hank got distracted and held his line. But wouldn't move for long and didn't start right away. Pulling me!! 110 female lol
Then they gave my nephew a joy ride with me. ( 140 together)
Then Nala did a single pull with my nephew. 30lbs.
Then tonight Hank & Nala pulled me tonight (dark pictures!) for 1/2 mile!! Sprinting!! They put their all into it! Can't be happier than I am right now! Doing the single runs on the bike was the smartest thing I've done. SO PROUD!

Wow that was a quick responce.
:D
Righton Rosie girl. That's wonderful. I am genuinely happy for you.
Yes, preserverance will always trump (dang I hate that word now) idle thoughts .
I am actually tickled to "hear" that news.
Soon enough you'll be racing too by the sounds of your glee.
Yup, you did good Rosie girl:thumbsup

Nice! And you have snow! Glad it's going well for you and your dogs.

You know...... for a man that considers himself really forward thinking I still get shy when someone says stuff like"sweet".
I actually kinda blushed ....even though no-one was around.
My fam went to the city (2&1/2hr drive) to take my baby daughter(the "as of Dec31"9 yr old), 3 of her nieces, her 3 sisters, her 2 brothers and Mama to celebrate her B-day along side 3 of her cousins that live in the city. A hotel wit a swimming pool, a decent resteraunt, and "shop till you drop". All her siblings and her aunties and Mama are chipping in. I just gave a fist full of 10's($) and opted to stay home and make sure the house didn't freeze. Ou electric heat doesn't work so I gota keep the fire going. Plus my dogs and birds and rabbits need to be looked after. It's almost impossible to find any pone to look after animals nowadays much less someone that knows how to keep a home fire going properly. It's kinda sad actually. I have lots of concern for my young people. Very few are able to handle responsibility and respect of others property.
Yes the dogs love the added raw fat and meat. I was considering going for a ride today but they all looked stuffed still. I guess I kind over did it last night when I fed them. Didn't hear them complain tho'. LOL gee, they didn't even howl till about 1AM as opposed to 15-20mins after feeding time. I guess they were all to busy gnawing on bones. Or just too full to sing. LOL
I have sheds out back where I store feed stuffs. They're actually about 75 ft from the wood burning cook stove. I just leave it all in boxes till cooking and/or feeding time. I don't have the luxury of cold storage in summer though. Another big plus of winter.
Oh ya, I ain't really that busy. If I got time to be on here for " 15mins here and 1/2 hr there" or to let my tummy settle for almost an hr, then I ain't that busy. Gee, I usta just wolf down my food and get back outside in 10or15 mins of coming to th table. Getting older now tho' and my tummy ain't as tuff as it usta be.
We had 8hrs & 6mins of sun yesterday. That's according to the weather app on my phone. Sounds about right too. So 8 hrs outside is nothing for me.
Or at least usta be nothing. Little different now.
Missing y'all....... You guys are my other family. I stay home lots now. I'm getting too old to show up the teenagers at social events every weekend. I can still do it. It just takes me longer to limber up and the healing process is a couple of days now not overnight. And plus it's a nuisance when I'm all stiff and tryna work with the dogs and/or cutting/hauling wood.
Oh my...... so I write a novel.

Aww, didn't mean to make ya blush lol

Wow that sounds like it will be a really fun time! That's great!

Makes sense, there's a lot of animals. And honestly if you hired someone and they did the fire wrong they could burn the house down too.

Oh boy, they must have been full to not howl for hours and not wanna run! LOL thats great you can store it outside though, forgot about the cold. Thought you would need one biiiigggg freezer ha

And oh wow that's a long time! See, I spend hours on the phone so it's more inside than outside which i think is bad buti mean there's great stuff on the phone, tv etc. But i feel like being on it some is fine or even normal especially now but the problem is it interferes with stuff. For instance, taking forever to get ready because i waste an hour on my phone or something orrr forgetting to eat for 2-3 hours after waking up because phone laziness and procrastination. Staying up till 5 or 6am, sleeping toll 12, 1, 2, 3pm. Okay that's only come back this week but still. It's kind of a problem. I need to work on it.

But awwww

From what little I can tell, yes, I think you're safe from the mental facility guards.
How's Gator doin?

LOL thank you.

He is great. Invigorated by this cold and SNOW. Snowed some yesterday but been snowing literally all day today. I bet we have probably at least 12 inches, probably closer to 14 or more. It keeps coming. All he wants to do is be OUTSIDE in it and play play play lol it's actually kind of annoying cause usually he's happy sleeping :lau I really don't mind though, I try to take him out more often or leave him out. But at least he doesn't need to run miles a day or anything so if playing in the snow in the backyard is all he needs then I am glad to provide lol legs been a little gimpy, he's sore when he gets off the bed after sleeping a while aka his usual all day, but he's fine after he walks around a bit. Cold doesn't help much tho he loves it. Maybe he just needs to lay less

Wow that is awesome!

Thanks guys! I've never seen the dogs so happy to "work"!
I wish we could race but I'm not allowed to travel or add dogs.. but I do plan on racing after I move out!
Self taught dogs from scratch and these turn outs are amazing! Just need to touch up turn commands and they'll be great! They stop and (mostly) start when told.
I'm going to use up the snow time while it last. Just short trips daily? Would that be okay?

That's awesome they love it so much!

Stinks you can't race though. Did they give a reason?

And I don't really know anything about mushing but I've trained my dog in some other stuff and I think that should be okay, just as long as they don't get bored or forced. That's really the key with any dog training - keep it short and fun. If they get bored they're not as likely to want to learn. Doing the same route could apply too so maybe you could mix up the route some or go a little longer sometimes?
