I recently got this chicken and the previous owner told me she was an americauna, but I'm wondering if she is an Easter Egger instead. Is there a way to tell the difference without knowing what color egg she came from? I also want to know if it is possible for her to be a he instead of a she. She was hatched around Easter.. Thanks

Easter Egger rooster.

Ameraucanas only come in eight recognised colours according to the standard of perfection.

x2 on EE. Also, if the hatchery misspelled it Americauna, that's another good indicator that it is an EE before you even purchase it. All true Ameraucana breeders will spell the breed's name correctly.

Your bird is a Easter Egger, you can't tell what color egg it came from and she is a he..

eatser egger the chicken is really pretty i love the colors

Thanks for all the answers :) how can you tell that it's a male? Is it the coloring or feathers? I know that males have saddle feathers and long skinny neck feathers, but I can't really tell yet with this chicken..

The patchy red spots, the redness of the comb and presence of three prominent rows, there are a few saddle feathers that seem to be poking through in a couple of the shots (see the bright golden one in the first picture?) and the structre of his tail

Thanks, I might be in trouble..lol.. I asked my husband last night if I could go get a rooster and he told me that I didn't need a rooster right now (cause he knows I want to hatch babies and we need to expand the coop before doing that) I thought I was getting a girl when I got it, I'm glad I didn't go get that other rooster.

Shhh:) he won't know the difference till "she" crows..lol
