Here's a sneak preview for now of the plans:

This old playhouse will eventually be converted into a 2 level coop with attached run both underneath and where the swingset A-frame is.

Didn't get measurements because it's hot wet hell out here again today and by the time I thought about grabbing the tape measure I was already almost down the hill. It's not a big hill but I am NOT trekking up and down and up and down today in this heat! The only reason I was down there in the first place is because I heard a cat and I wanted to see if I could find it

But yeah, it's nasty again today

As usual, the girls are keeping cool in and around the woods.

They decided to explore the playhouse without prompting!

I've been thinking about the bed sheet thing. We have so many old sheets, I might be able to find something that I can use. Thank you for the tip!

If you have a garden or any frost sensitive plants, save any old bedsheets you have. I use them at the beginning/end of the growing season to protect tender plants from frost. It won't save them from a hard freeze, but I've had covered plants make it through 26°.

I've neglected this thread for a month and now's as good a time as any for an update.

Aliss passed away. 4 days ago she was bitten by a dog. She must have had bad internal injuries because although she looked to be improving on the outside, she fell asleep around 6:45 in the evening yesterday and within minutes she was gone. It was quiet and peaceful, and for that I'm grateful. I'm heartbroken and in shock at her loss. But she went quickly, without a sound.

Goodnight, sleep tight, stay warm, don't let anything bite, if they do bite them back, have sweet dreams, I love you, and I'll see you again someday, my sweet Aliss. The flock won't be the same without their perfect lead hen. Fly high and free, my baby.

Thank you both. It's weird not having her around, to say the least. I keep randomly bursting into tears. But I still have 4 lovely chooks to take care of, so that's what I'm trying to focus on
