My Americana chicks were hatched on April 25 - from McMurray - and I got my first blue/green egg on Sept 7. I have 10 Americana's and I'm getting 3-4 blue eggs a day now. They haven't molted yet this fall. These are very good girls!

My EE pullet was born April 10th and she just started laying last Wed. (Sept 30). However, I've already gotten 4 blues eggs from her in 5 days! Don't give up hope!

I have read that they are very, very late to lay. I wish I had studied up before I acquired Ameraucanas!

For a pullet to lay at 20 weeks is rare, for a pullet to not lay until 28-32 weeks is common.

One of my Ameraucanas started laying at 4 weeks

Make sure they are getting plenty of protein, have oystershell available, and some greens, and I'm sure they will lay soon!

Allright...I will go turn off the BBQ!!! I couldn't eat em anyway! My only concern was the fact that my Silver Wyandotts have been laying for several months and they were only several weeks older than my Americaunas. Maybe there is more of a age difference than I thought!
No matter...we are having a helluva time keeping up with the eggs the 3 Silvers are putting out. 1 to 2 a day each.
So...if I am going to sell eggs in our family owned grocery store, do I need to wash the eggs and/or sterilize them before selling them or just put them in a carton and be done with it???
