Are Americana’s more temperamental with egg laying than other breeds? I live in northwest MO. The daylight has shortened and the nights are colder but my barred rock, speckled Sussex, Wyandotte’s, and austrolorps are all still laying. But I haven’t gotten a blue egg in weeks!

Is your hen molting? My americuana hen started molting recently and I don’t get any eggs from her right now either. She will resume in the spring once her molt has finished and daylight hours increase.

No. They molted about a month ago. They could be hiding them elsewhere I suppose. I doubt that though because one of them pretty much hangs out in the coop most of the day. She’s lazy lol

Maybe she’s done for the year🤷‍♀️ My hens usually molt and stop laying until spring. Is she an old hen? Are there other stressors that may cause the lack of production?

She’ll be two this spring. No other stressors. There are 2 of them and neither are laying. So I thought maybe they are littler more temperamental to the cold/short days than my other hens.

She's at the age where she will stop laying for molting and winter break.
Ameraucana are not stellar layers.
Chances are you really have an Easter Egger(full body pics show legs will confirm),
they also are not always great layers because they are a cross,
often with Ameraucana in their genetic background.
