It depends on the breed of chicken. If you buy hybrid layers, then one would expect a very rate of egg production - most heritage breeds do not lay anything like that. I'm guessing that your chickens are "local", i.e. the likely result of generations of mixed breeds, then its not so easy to assess. However, laying almost every day between cycles of broodiness is not uncommon from such birds where I live.
