It can be very hard to find the opening, and I can imagine it's quite difficult on a small hen. And yes, you can hurt her if you aren't careful. You could try the calcium and bath like @Wyorp Rock suggested and hope that she passes it on her own.
That may be better, if she's a very small hen.

I agree with Kathy, if you can feel a hard shell and you don't have vet care, then manually removing the shell is your best option.
Do you have a parent, neighbor or friend that can help you with this? Extra hands would be good.
OK and don't worry about the medication right now. Trying to get the egg out is what you will want to do.
I found the egg... the problem is it is too big to fit through her pelvic bones! The top is broken but the bottoms intact.. I don’t want hurt her, but what if I gently broke it so I could pull it out? That would cut her right?
Were you able to feel the shell against your skin?
against my glove... I think this it an egg inside of an egg, because there’s broken shell around, but I feel a totally intact egg as well.. she is trying so hard to pass it that’s she’s making noises
