But gizzard is in front of legs?
I assume she was feeling farther back?
Most diagrams show it like that, but it's actually here:

@casportpony: "Here" is not showing up for me. I will check back Sunday in case it's just not downloading for me. It's getting to be that time of day, lol. Joys of living in the wilderness :D... which I truly love!
Can you do a screenshot?

Does this help? To me it looks like the oviduct and ovaries are closer to the tail and back above the intestines with the gizzard low in the abdomen in front of (or maybe between?) the legs. Wouldn't there be another opening above the cloaca hidden behind the upper flap of the cloaca and leading to the oviduct? This is a good opportunity (for me for sure) to learn more chicken anatomy especially since I have never processed a bird.

I thought I had posted that..and @casportpony corrected me ... but now I don't see it.
Oh, if you did then I missed it. Sorry.

So am I right about the oviduct behind the flap thing? I need an image with a frontal and a rear view to determine organs being right or left. Here it looks like you'd be probing up not down to abdomen to find the oviduct.
