an egg eater or just thin shelled egg????

I went to collect an egg that I knew the hen had just laid. No egg!! just a pile of broken shells and egg yolk. There was another hen in there with her, is it possible that she ate it? Or did it just break when she went to lay also and it just made her look like she ate it? I did see her wipe her beak on the coop floor, then get into another nest box.

They have the purina layer pellets.

Suggestions?

All hens will peck at their egg when they are done laying if it breaks open they will eat it. I would put out some oyster shell free choice.
