OK so made a candler (sp) from a lamp and a box. It wasn't the best but it did so much better of a job than the flashlight. Well the egg I selected you can see a chick in it, but honestly I don't think it was viable and I think there may have been a blood ring. But the biggest problem I saw was there was a crack in the egg. Should I just keep the egg in the warmer and hope for the best? I am trying to find a smaller lamp to place in a box and use as a candler with a 100 watt bulb.

I will try and post pics as soon as I can.

Before you go throwing it out, smell the egg and see if it smells bad. If it smells rotten then the chick is dead. If there is no smell, I would take unscented cadle wax and cover the crack over. I have two eggs in my incubators right now with wax over cracks or busted spots and they are doing fine. Chicks are alive and growing. The one is even a call duck egg. Only thing is when it comes time for lockdown, you need to remove the wax from the shell.
As for a candler, I use a million candlepower spotlight with a piece of cardboard cut to fit over the top of the light. It sits directly on top of it and there is a quarter size hole cut and I can see through the darkest of eggs with it. For lighter colored eggs I just use one of the $2 LED mini lights. They work great!
Take the pictures and post them when you get a chance.
