an egg with a tail!?

Last night I went out to collect the duck eggs and found this in her nest...

It had white in it...

What causes this little "tail" on an egg!?

It happens, eggs sometimes form funky in the reproductive tract, and maybe that one did some slipping and sliding while the shell was being made!

When I washed the egg, the tail softened and popped up so it stood straight off the end of the egg... then it broke...oops
