Sorry to rant about the neighbor. My frustration level is high.
I turned my dog kennel into a chicken pen yesterday. I covered the top with chicken wire hoping to keep chickens in & flying predators out. I removed the fish tank. The pet carriers are back in as nesting boxes. This morning the ladies were checking them out. One chick climbed into one as I fastening the carrier together.
It is good to see the girls in the pen yard scratching, catching bugs & enjoying the sun. I gave the rooster away yesterday. He was supposed to be a she. The man said he breeds & likes to mix up the bloodlines. He says he does not eat his birds. I was not going to ask.
Debakadeb, So nesting box size does not matter. Good theories & observations. It is easy to see how eggs can break or crack with several hens using the same box. I have the oyster shell on the pellets today & I will always make it available now.
Wynette, I filed an EPA complaint. I learned they only enforce the smoke limits on outside burning. I did contact the county to ask if there is a program to help her upgrade her heating system. When I called her yesterday she kept screaming at me & making false accusations. I asked if she could please calm down & we can talk. She said don't knock on her door that is tresspassing, don't call. Email me. I did & she replied I am "harassing" her with calls & emails and that I banged on her door like a lunatic & broke it. She said she is documenting.
I "harassed" her with one email today. Subject.".program to help upgrade your stove & weatherize" email content was the info the county emailed to me. I am just out of control "harassing" that poor woman!
