Cold night in CT tonight! 10 degrees F. I love checking the camera before bed and seeing all 6 girls sleeping peacefully. It helps me rest assured. Sometimes, like tonight, i only count 5 and go out there to find Patient sleeping in the nesting box! I march right out there and remove her and put her back on roost. It happened twice this week. Shes at the bottom of pecking order and really doesnt seem to mind, but boy does she hate the roost time Drama! I’ve never seen her get pushed off and infact believe she heads to nest box to avoid the drama! She is pissed when i reach for her to take her out. She bites me everytime 😳why wont she stand up for herself like this when the girls bully her?! Oh well. Shes roosted with the flock again. All is fluffy and well 🐓❤️

There can be 2 reasons. Your nesting boxes, are somewhat high enough,,,, to be favorable to roost/sleep in.
Second, and more likely reason,,,,, If you were her, :old :idunno,,, and getting picked on, you would also seek safer roost area.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, :highfive:

Can you provide another roost sufficiently far enough from the existing roost to prevent pecking?
I have 2 6ft long roosts for 6 chickens 😳 They have sooo much more roost room but they all gravitate toward the same little section. I think b/c its cold out she chooses the nest instead of just moving 2 ft down the roost to the other side, lol. ??? 🐓❤️

I was just thinking of putting a camera in my coop. Which one are you using?
