(1) I am not new to chickens, I had them in the country for about 30 years.

(2) Right now I don't have any chickens ( I am currently in Cary ) I sure miss those good old home-raised eggs!

(3) I had banties, Rhode Island Reds, Polish, mostly layers that had to retire from an egg ranch though ( I wanted to take em all home!)

(4) I erroneously heard that Cary was 'considering" letting us have backyard hens.

(5) I make baskets (and teach how to), garden, enjoy the internet, and love to hit the beach as much as I can with my new husband.

(6) Like I said, I am a newlywed at 57 (just 6 months of married bliss), I have a daughter in Seattle who is 27, I have 3 extra cute ,purring, shedding children yet at home, all the rest of my family is in Wisconsin, where I moved from 4 years ago.
I have had chickens, turkeys, ducks, pheasants, guinea fowl and thats just the birds!

I just wanted to say that I am getting really fed up with people who don't like something or "don't believe" in something and then go about forcing their beliefs and or fears on everyone else around them (read conservatives mostly) (ie universal healthcare, abortion, trickle down theory, you get the picture)
It seems the only ageless thing left is greed sometimes

I would like to suggest as an alternative to arguing with a certain someone here, also consider writing down the names of all the town officers who are against backyard chickens and taking it with you next time you vote. Better yet, maybe we can get some money pooled and take out some ads in a few prominent papers near election day!

I am soooooo longing for a home raised egg.

My country, right or wrong is a thing no patriot would
ever think of saying... It is like saying 'My mother, drunk
or sober.'" To which most Americans would respond:
"Are you calling my mother a drunk?"

Welcome!

Sounds like you might fit in Random Ramblings pretty well!!

I bet people in the hobby thread would enjoy another basket weaver!

I am not sure where is the appropriate area for posting about basket making but I will look and try. BTW, love the Earth Pledge, it is very cool.
