Deer Park Washington
I got the job at Ace hardware which was awesome. I was nerous that I would mess up or something but I havent yet. I have been working in the yard and they said they might train me as a cashier later. Well I am thinking I like the yard better, there is always something to do, unlike inside where they dust when there are no customers. When there are no customers in the yard there is always something to do. After 90 days I get medical benefits. I get $8.50 an hour and work 8 hour days. I will be working 5 days a week, my days off are supposed to be mondays and thursdays but I worked yesterday because I needed the training. I have everything down except how to fill propane. I can drive the forklift, I still am not used to the turning yet.
I just thought I'd update everyone, that way you dont have to worry about me since I am not posting as much as I used to.

Congratulations, thats awesome!! My SIL lived in deer park with my niece and nephew for about a year or two. I like your name and then the other day I noticed it said deer park. isn't that a small place?

Hey F.M.Poop, glad to see you posting again, and good to know it's for a good reason. I saw your other post responding to a mom asking about FFA, and when I saw the thread title, I thought of you. I had never heard of FFA until you wrote about it here on BYC a few months ago. Yeah, I've lived an ignorant life out east in the 'burbs.

Anyway, congratulations on acing your new job. Best of luck to you. I bet your employers know they are lucky to have you.

Thanks to all. It was funny, I always smile all the time and the boss noticed that on the first day I smiled the whole morning and he said 'after today you wont be smiling as much with all the hard work'. Well at the end of the day I was still smiling, he said I must be too happy. Then the same thing yesterday, he said that he likes to see a yard worker smiling even after hand loading 110 wood posts and 20 80# bags of concrete. It seems that when I smile it makes other smile back. That is why his wife thinks that I might make a good cashier because I always smile and I am so polite with costomers. I better get ready, I leave in about 45 mins for work, today I work til 7:15.
Thanks all,
Michael

Good for you!
You sound like a hard worker - I wish I could say the same for some of the people who walk in my door looking for a job...

They don't want to do this, can't do that, their back hurts, etc., etc, but they still think they should be making $15.00 an hour!
