I have used it but not had much luck. Another good source is the Mormons, they record a lot of births due to their beliefs. Good luck!

Tracked my lineage back in some places to the 1500s.
I'm a descendant from Welsh, English, German, Irish, and Mulatto (per the census of the 1800s)
it was crazy fun to find all that information out!
