Hi!
I tried my luck with incubating Ancona chicken eggs.
Four eggs were infertile, which doesn't surprise me, giving the time of year here in NZ...it is winter.
I have no idea why the others didn't make it. I probably didn't let the eggs sit long enough after their journey, only 24 hours...they were thrown around by the postman quite a bit, because they were all squint in the parcel. I was under time pressure to get them in, but had greater success with BRs after letting them sit on the shelf for several days prior to incubation.
They seemed to develop at different pace too, which was weird. Humidity was at 58% at 38°C... which worked great for Barred Rocks, but I'm sure some of them drowned while hatching. I have a cheap incubator. What temp and Humidity do you use for your Anconas?
Two died after hatching, the rest never pipped.
