Ancona duck-dog attack

I went to check on him and he was laying there shivering. I wrapped him up and have him in my lap with the pad until he warms up then I'll work on getting him a warm spot in his crate. His feet feel cold to the touch and they are always hot. The reason for thinking Charlie is the one who actually killed Gordy... I got Fulton and Gordy at a few moths old after Banks (my female) was killed. I wanted to get Charlie a companion because he was lost without her. I got drakes, because breeding isn't a goal and I was told they would pal around together well... They do, but Charlie has hit puberty and will pick at them sometimes. I have seen him try to mount Gordy in the past ( Gordy is small and has a limp from an injury as a duckling--he was "free with purchase" since I wanted pets) ... When I came into the back... I saw my dog standing over Fulton out in the middle of the yard... I don't think she injured him because she didn't act aggressively or playfully with him... She seemed concerned almost (but she is a dog) he was laying down and when he saw me he got up and walked toward me...which was weird. I got him up and took him to the pen to investigate his injuries. That's when I noticed Charlie and Gordy behind the pen. Charlie had him pinned and had him by the head with his neck violent twisted. It took a bit of effort to get Charlie off of him. Took him inside and rises him in the tub. There was no sign of bleeding or external injury. But his mouth and nostrils were full of dirt from where Charlie was pushing him down in the mud. I did what I could to clear his airways but he kind of hiccuped for a few minutes like he couldn't breath (it felt like there might have been damage to his ribs). I'm not saying that the dog didn't cause the injuries... I'm just saying the injuries might not have killed him without Charlie's help.

I'm about 90% sure he just had a seizure. I can't get ahold of my vet. I am about to start making phone calls

Yes....You could be correct?....The dog did not cause the injuries...It really could of been from an aggressive Drake....The Dog just reacted to the attack and was investigating the excited energy...
Some Drakes can be horrid once hormones take over......

Best if luck.....;)

Cheers!

Ok the only vet in the area that sees ducks is out of the office today. He is trembling/shivering non-stop and he had what appeared to be a mild seizure and is still somewhere in that zone. He will drink water if I offer it, but he did choke on it. And he already smells like infection, or I associate the smell of derma gel with it (the last time I used it was with a very bad infection). Should I flush the wound again with Epsom salt water and use blu kote?

I would flush with the Epsom salts and not use blue kote yet ......give him a drink of sugar water and tea...Only one good drink....cover his crate and keep him warm....He should recover from the shock if he is kept quiet.....

How sad....

I use this and use it on all animals.....Its all natural....It is and antiseptic spray.....Acceleryn first aid antiseptic spray.....would nit use Blu-kite if going to a Vet...Makes it harder to clearly see the wounds.....

Poor Duck...:(
