Ancona Ducks

at what age did your drake get his curled feather? My ducks started laying. I was getting one egg a day now I get two a day every once in a while but never can figure out who is laying the eggs. But none of them seem to have a drake feather. Though my pekin and the little ancona try to mate they switch whos on top so they all confusw me about what gender they possibly are.

They are all 3 1/2 months. No eggs yet. But I'm hoping soon we will get one!

Mine are a little over 4 months. About exactly when they turned 4 month I got an but none of thwm have a drake feather. But the try to mate with each other. And I only have been get one or two eggs a day. But never 3 and I have three ducks so im not sure if mine are just latewith the feather or... if maybe the pekin is the male and just doesnt have his feather...

Mine are almost 5 months... No eggs, but the boys all got tail feathers at right around 16-17 weeks. It was like they grew in overnight, and they were quite distinctive.

As for my currently mature hen... Come on Tuffy, let's see those eggs! :)

It was very exciting when they laid their first egg. One of them laid it in the pool and when I went to xlean the pool I found it. Haha the have gotten better about were they lay the egg though. I never can figure out qhos laying the eggs because if I wake up early they won't lay one the entire day. If I dont get up early and go outside they lay them early. Lol

After the first batch of mail ordered duck eggs, did not develop at all, we tried a different farm.

Look what a gift we received today ;-)

Our first Ancona duck!!!

Active, healthy little chatterboxes!!

We are expecting a second batch of hatching eggs next week from the same farm.

They were great! Very responsive, lots of great info and tips,, the first hatching eggs we received came in all colors from white to green and were excellent wrapped for shipping.

If you are looking for hatching eggs, I can highly recommend Rockin' H Farm in Georgia

Here you are teasing us with no pictures! So glad the hatch went well :)

It's tough to catch them in one pic, they are all over the incubator

Tomorrow they are moving into the brooder and I will have a way better chance to get a nice pic, that shows all the different colors.
