Ancona/GWH eggs - One Ancona duckling so far

Sorry to hear that... Theres still a slight chance...but it doesnt sound good. Its so sad when they get that far and dont make it.

I have a dozen in lockdown today.. One looked so small when I candled- it surely wont make it- the network of veins isnt even around the whole egg. So I guess I can maybe hope for 11 at best. Best of luck with your other eggs....hope you start seeing some hatching action form them soon.

Egg # 6 pipped this afternoon but nothing happening since. *sigh* I am pretty positive that Egg #5 baby expired but it is in the bator still just in case. No other visible pips.

This duck incubating is frustrating, especially for a first timer...they take too long to do anything. hahahaha I think I like hatching chickens better. hahahaha

*going back to watch my movie and peek at the eggs again*

Okay, I am an idiot LOL it is just now the 9th duh so today is day 28...I can stop the panic now...they still have time indeed. Duh.

they are just too slow sometimes... I havent seen a thing yet!! Although mine arent really due for another 48 hours...I would have expected more action from mine so far too... I just like seeing mine wobble.. I can never get enough of seeing that.. And then when they have pipped and the egg is peeping..it just so cute....

Still the one little pip on #6 and nothing else. I am going to bed now and get a few hours sleep...maybe something will happen when I snooze. LOL

I hope you wake up this morning to find ducklings! Mine are wobbling around lots and it is day 23 today...it's painful to pass the time away when your waiting. Good luck.

No duckling...pip is larger. Temp is 99.0 Humidity is 74.6%. No wobbling, no other visible pips *sigh*

Duckling number 1 has arrived. It is a little Ancona.

Odd thing and question....in the shell there was a glob of a jelly like stuff...it was reddish and had some yellow in it. Is this okay or something wrong with little duckling?

I took a picture but cannot upload photos on this computer at this time. grrrrrr

I am 3.5 hours into day 28....so I am still hoping for some more pipping, zipping and hatching.

Congratulations!!! Ancona"s are such gorgeous looking ducks. Hope the little one soon has some friends. The goop in the shell is normal- I always have some amount of boober looking mess in my eggs- ranging in colour including green brown yellow and red.

I am starting to think my lot arent actually due to Tuesday. I put two lots in close together- only a few days apart- I htought it was Sunday and Tuesday... But maybe I had things the other way around... Oh well...Back to waiting.....

Good to know about the blob/goop...chickens do not seem to have that in their shells so I was worried. Little one is still an only child...no visible pips on the other eggs. What a weird hatch this has been...one pips on day 25 and dies without getting out...then one pips on night 27 and hatches on day 28 and no pips on anything else. *sigh*

Little one is in a box with heat lamp, stuffed duck, food and water but s/he prefers to be on my daughter's shoulder under her hair....in the box it is non-stop peeping and jumping against the side of the box.

I hope at least one more hatches so this one has company.
