Ancona

Hey Everyone,
I’m looking for some insight into a couple of ducklings I hatched this year. I have a flock of pure Ancona ducks. The majority from one place and a drake from another. Both swear up and down there is no chance of their stock being crosses. That being said, my main flock look like typica Ancona’s but then these two hatched.
Has anyone ever seen Ancona’s that look like this or is there maybe a recessive gene of some other breed somewhere down the line?

I had about 6 Ancona ducks awhile ago, and loved them to death! Which "2" are you referring to? The black ones? If so, they don't look like Ancona's to me!

Yes the black ones are the ones I’m referring to. I don’t know how they could be anything other than Ancona though
I might just have to keep them for a bit in their own pen and see what happens with them

The two black ones look like Black Swedish. And I’m not the best with genetics so I have no idea why your ducks would have produced a bird like that.

That’s what someone else said but I only have mature Ancona and immature call ducks. And both breeders swear up and down there’s no chance of crossbreds so no idea what to make of these two

I have two that are even blacker than this that the breeder swears up and down are anconas! LOL! The other four look to breed but I have a drake and a gal who...only have a little bit of white on their chest and a little around their bill. Very much so look like black swedish to me (mine) yours actually have more white but im glad ot see this post because its been bugging me about my two.

Thank god someone else has this. I guess we’re the lucky ones that get the anomalies that aren’t ideal for breeding lol
