That's the bottom of a plant flat / tray.
Hahaha! Look how HUGE the Swedish duckling is compared to the Silkie!

Congrats Lisa! Wonder if the silkie thinks the duck is a giant..LOL

It probably does, Margie! I've got them in the dark or the ducklings will climb the dividers.
Got your hatches battened down for tonight? Beautiful clear morning (18* here), but supposed to get ugly this evening.

You will love it.. Just make sure you cut out the bottoms of the individual cups so they can circulate air.. Hatching in a carton makes less mess and keeps the hatched chicks from playing soccer with the unhatched eggs..

Great pics Dipsy Doodle!!

Hope this isn't a hijack. How important is it to have the bottoms of the individual compartments cut out? I was going to use hard plastic egg trays from an old refrigerator......only cuz they fit perfectly into my turning tray. Is it a heat exchange issue or an air circulation issue?

it!!!! I am trying desperately to be patient with our first hatch ever! some of the eggs started shaking yesterday afternoon through evening.... I am hoping they don't make us wait another day or two before they decide to hatch. Today is the 21st day for Group 1(5 groups total- 1 group per day)..... How do any of you stand the last day or two wait?!?!
