And it begins! My Campine is doing a good job of mothering so far.

2 eggs pipped yesterday. I brought them in and put them in the bator cuz I was nervous about this hen. Before I went to bed i went and checked the hen and 2 more pipped. This morning the 2 I brought in still hadnt zipped so I put them back under momma with a plan to check every 1/2 hr. She was real aggressive yesterday and this morning, pecking at me instead of just growling so I knew that she knew it was time. When I checked her this morning I saw that one of the ones that had pipped before bed had pipped all the way through, it's beak was all the way through and she pecked at its beak so I was concerned and decided to check her every 30 minutes. Three 30 min checks later I found this. :) of the 2 eggs left, 1 had pipped last night and chirping up a storm and the 5th is, I hope, just 1 day behind, 2 at most I think. She pecks them when they come out and fought me when I pushed her off for 2 secs to get this picture.

Momma is a Golden Campine and poppa is a Splash Andy..... I think lol. The other option would be a black frizzle Cochin bantam or blue frizzle EE. The later is doubtful as I listed top to bottom order :) and from the coloring, my inexperience seems like it's a blue.

Edited for typos

Oh yea, exiting again because I forgot to add that yesterday morning when I checked her, I found 1 egg way behind her and freezing cold. I brought it in and after candling, saw it wasnt moving at all and the beak had pipped through the membrane and decide, wtheck, I'll throw it in the bator, while it's cold, and see if I can bring it up to temp gradually and see if it's still alive. After 2 hrs I checked it again and it was moving and breathing and chirping. It is one of those 3. I was sooo super excited that I caught it in time. It was so cold I thought it was a goner.

Adorable chicks. Blue is my favorite color, and I want to steal the babies.

I completely understand your worrying, but I would handle them a bit less often than you have been. Stressed Mommas can be somewhat unpredictable. It's unlikely she'll abandon her chicks, but things have happened.

My one mallard hen snapped the necks of her babies when I handled them (found that out the hard way after she ran her ducklings ragged and I tried to return some of the weaker ones. Since then, she's gone to freezer camp.)

No criticism meant, just friendly advice.

Freezer camp. HAHAHA. I love it.

How many eggs was she sitting on?
She was sitting on 12 originally, have a post previously where she went missing and I asked about being eaten or going broody and then another asking about egg age. After candling when I found her, 4 were veined. I think it was 2 were cracked and 6 were just yolks. I decided to wait another day on the 6 and out of the 6, 2 more had veined the next day. So, she was sitting on 5.
