And so it begins again.....

Can you not get some CCLs or maybe some sex-linked eggs?
I have tried searching for this breed in Australia, but there are not too many with them in our area and they don’t always have chicks for sale.... keep my eyes out though.
Yep, chicken maths.... you always want more!!!

The CCLs might be more tricky, being a pure breed, but you might be able to source some sex-linked crosses??

I hatched some sex links...Rhode Island Reds crossed with Light Sussex, known as Columbian Blacktails here in the UK. The chicks came out bright fluffy yellow for roos and a lovely golden buff colour for the girls. They were so easy to sex and the adult girls were so pretty...a gorgeous 'little red hen' with the black hackle speckles and black tail feathers of the Sussex. Very good layers too!!!

Hmmm maybe will probably wait until next spring now..... in the high 30/40’s here and heat/humidity are killing us as well as our pullets/hens. Plus it is snake season in full swing and we have had a couple of eastern brown sightings in the area. (One of the most deadly)

Wow! I don't envy you there, for the weather or the snakes! We had an unseasonably hot summer last year and it got up to 35....just about did me in! And the only 'dangerous' snake we have is the adder and you rarely see them. Even if you did, they are rarely deadly...about a dozen deaths in a hundred years I think. Our only real threat to chickens is old Mr Reynard....the fox.....but I have three alpacas so he doesn't come anywhere near. I used to see him quite regularly before they arrived but not a sign of him since last January, when the 'pacas moved in. Mind you, the pen that the chickens will live in has had rabbits in it for the last two years and he never bothered those either.

Awesome! Another rcom incubator person posting on the forum! And you're experienced with it.. maybe I should pick your brain. lol Just kidding. Congrats and glad that you're back to having the joy back in your life! Chickens are so cute!

What exactly kind of incy is that and where do they sale them

Think that particular model is an r-Com max 20. Here is a video of it in action:

As for sale, I bought my r-Com MX 50 from Amazon since it was a much lower price than other placed had it listed for. (They were listing it for like 700 and amazon had it for 288.)
The MX 50 is actually listed as a lower price than the max 20 for some reason on amazon.

I thought it was a good value in comparison to the other middle to higher end home incubators basically, without turning to the professional incubator market. I like the MX50. I will say that I did buy an extra egg tray from an rcom supplier website that ended up being an extra 30 or so bucks, but it really helps turn the eggs much much better, to me. The tray looks like the one in the video. It must have been standard for that model (the 20.) I'm not sure. Not very familiar with the incubators, as of yet.

Of course you can always see these on eBay: https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_fr...0.Xr-Com+mx+20.TRS0&_nkw=r-Com+mx+20&_sacat=0

I prefer to buy from Amazon, because I've never had a problem with Amazon that I couldn't get fixed. They've always and I mean ALWAYS come through for me when something went wrong with the product. Their returns are extremely easy, as well, if you decide that you have buyer's remorse. For me, when I got it in, at first I was nervous it didn't seem to turn that well. So then I thought well let me try one thing before I return it, and that egg tray works wonderfully. I can find the website if anyone needs it, but honestly it's extremely easy to find. Just an rcom supplier of parts and incubators. They are far too expensive, to me, to buy the incubators from but any replacement parts I would buy if I truly needed them.

Kenny is right, the incy I pictured is an R COM 20 Max. I also purchased the egg tray separately as the machine only comes with bar dividers to set your eggs between. These have worked fine in the past, I've still had great hatches, but I always fret somewhat as the eggs don't always turn evenly or through the full 180 degrees. I guess it's not completely necessary that they do a full 180 as the purpose of the turn is just to ensure that the embryo doesn't stick and a lesser turn will ensure that but still....the new egg tray is fabulous at getting every egg through a perfect turn so I'm happy with the extra money spent. Incidentally, in UK, I paid the equivalent of $340 for the incy and another $40 for the tray (US dollars), which is the higher end of the 20 egg incy market, but I have had near 100% hatch rate so ain't compainin'!!!
