A couple of months ago, I purchased five chicks from My Pet Chicken. A Barnevelder pullet, a Cream Legbar pullet and 1:2 Welsummers (which turned into 2:1 Welsummers. In the brooder, they were the messiest chicks ever and now in the grow out pen, they continue to break records for biggest mess of the day/week/month/all time. I don't know which one is the culprit or if it is the result of the dynamic among these breeds. I've removed the pine shavings and hay because.... well, what's the point? I've used different feeders and different waterers. I have adult Welsummers and adult Cream Legbars and neither of those breeds would be my nomination for messiest. I've never had a Barnevelder adult but my two cockerels in a different pen don't produce the catastrophic waste of feed, the flight of bedding and the tumbling of the waterer, seen in this particular pen. There are only five in that pen. The pen above them has ten Lavender Orpingtons and is much easier to maintain clean. My question is what breed of chicken has been your messiest? The poll has breeds I've raised but feel free to suggest your own messy chicken, breed or individual, if the poll can be edited, I'll add.

My Barred Rock chicks were WAY messier than my Black Australorp chicks. And I mean this in every way! They pooped more, they soaked the bedding, food EVERYWHERE, they even smelled more stinky! :lau

Hang their waterer and build @aart spill proof feeder. My horde of Assorted Plymouth Rocks destroy about 1 of my five acres on a daily basis. They’re only 5.5 weeks old!!!! I’m hoping they grow out of it.

It's not the chicken breed, it's the keepers, gotta outsmart them by arranging the setup to avoid(or at least reduce) the messes.
Ah, yeah the ol blame the keeper subject switcheroo. I guess saying that there are ten Lavender Orpingtons in the apartment above them with half the daily mess holds no sway in that opinion? I'm comparing them to every other coop/pen/brooder I have and they take the prize.

They destroy an acre on a daily basis? How many of them are there? My flocks free range on on my property which is just under 12 acres but they mainly stay within two acres and they actually help me clean up, compost, and keep flies down.

They are in a grow out pen. This won't be in their coop until they are too big for a snake to think it will devour them. Fortunately weather is cooling and snakes will be taking a few months off.
