And then there was One ...

a month ago took in a stray hen that had been wandering the streets of the town where i live, for a month. Since march!
She has frost bite in her comb but the girl who gave her to me had developed an attachment and was very worried for her. The chicken grapevine led her to me and i agreed to take her in.
I had her in the coop,,in a wire cage for about a week before i let her out perminent. Each daY i would go out and remove her from the cage and see how it went. At fist they all waNted to beat her up, then some ignored her and only a couple wanted to beat her up. She really hated the cage and i cant blame her after months of freedom with the run of the town being fed handouts by nice people and all the birdseed one can pick up under bird feeders. One saturday morning i just let her out with her in the yard and tho she avoided some birds, she so enjoyed being out scratching and dusting.
Now she is part of the flock and since she is an isa brown and i have other isabrowns sometimes i can not pick her out. She is the talkative one who lets me pick her up tho. Her name is Sweetie. The girl who gave her to me has checked up on her a couple times and is a new egg customer for me.
I will post a picture of her if i can get a good one.
Your girl will adjust and will in no time become part of the groop. Most chicken fights are not serious and they seem to forget about it quickly.
I am sorry for your circumstances!
Sweetie is the one closest to the guineas.
