My Buff Orpington , "Angel", laid 2 eggs today!

She seemed under stress so I sat with her until she laid her first one (it took almost an hour).

She stayed in the nest & kept panting & making that screaming noise that they do when they are going to lay.

Sure enough, after about another hour, she laid a second one.

Here's a photo of the eggs. The one on the left was the first one laid. Both eggs are larger than the norm:

Has anyone else had this experience? I have a feeling that it's very unusual!

you think the 1st. egg was suppose to be laid the day before and her usual egg of the day followed almost directly behind ?

It is highly unusual . DID she lay an egg the day before ? How old is she ?

I have had a hen do that before as well. I thought it was very unlikely. Great for you though.

The first eggs my rescued broiler hen laid were the same day...so it can happen! Those poor girls though
