would these make okay nest boxes, they would be nailed to the wall, but your the experts so i trust you, we can obtain another 3 or four of these (4 in each one) so if it works it will save us alot of time

I think they would be great, as long as you screw in a board in fron to shavings/eggs don't fall out. Do you have batams or standards? How many? A good size nest box is 12 x 12, also you only need one nest box to every 4-5 hens.

yes, they are 12x12 and i will have bantams i almost forgot about the ledge so the shavings/eggs won't fall out-thanks for the reminder

Will they free range or will you make a pen?

they will freerange, but they will have a small pen for when its raining, cold etc....
