anecdotal about ACV and my chicks

As a normal part of my brooder program, I have put a little acv in the water. After reading some scientific sounding stuff that indicate I was wasting my time, I stopped and gave chicks plain old water. Almost immediately I had problems with stuck poop on their hineys. Scared me as the chicks in the brooder are very valuable to my flock goals. I put ACV back in the water and problem stopped. Besides the obvious result in chick health, I have better things to do than clean poop off chick butts.

I as well use ACV in my water ever since reading here and other places online about the benefits. I realize that some people hold belief that there is no value in it however no one has shown that it is harmful so I figured cant hurt, could potentially really help so I gave it. I fill their water in the morning and top up in the evening. The evening top up I give just plain water so they get a diluted drink with the ACV. When I first got my chicks, I didnt have ACV and I also spent time cleaning chickie hiney! As you said, much better things to do! Since starting ACV, that has disappeared completely and I dont want to take the chance to have it start back up. Glad to hear that it is working for you and your flock!

How much do you add? Will any reject for the taste?

I put around a tablespoon to a gallon of water. They didnt seem to even notice the change when I introduced it to them. I want to also let you know to try and get "organic" ACV that has the murky "mother" in it. I use Braggs. That is supposedly what is going to help them the most.

I use braggs as well. Usually mix it with cheapo stuff without mother and it infiltrates all of it making it cheaper to use. I am not a great person to ask per amount. I'm not a measuring kind of girl. I use a glug per gallon or so,LOL. Never had any animal reject it. I gave it to barrel horses when I was racing and I think it actually helped them drink on the road with various different waters.
