Angel Food Ministries...do you know about it?

I think I need to add in here, lest someone get the wrong impression, churches, legions, or any other volunteer organization can bring this program to your community. And I should also add this is a ministry...by that I mean, $1 per menu, is given back to your organization, this is to help offset the cost of gas (you have to go the the dropoff site, & gas is around $3 gal), truck rentals (orders take up lots of space), electricity, and some people even rent buildings to have a location for the distribution day. We, our church, on average spends $100.00 per month to have this program. Why? Well it's a ministry....that is $100.00 on top of anything that angelfood would send back our way. I do not want someone to think this is a way to make money, we have not even came close to that; it's a way to help...and that's why it's usually churches that volunteer to bring this program to their community. We also add to each menu from our own food pantry; As an extra bonus. If your organization is interested, please don't hesitate to find out more information. You will be blessed by the new friendships and the wonderful community spirit that permeates this program.

This thread gives many more examples of how our churches, no matter what the
denomination, really help out our communities. Churches never get the credit
they deserve, not that they usually do anything for credit.

The whole world of charities and non-profits is fraught with problems and issues. Not only the ever present wise-use-of-donations issues. We have so many different opinions on what is REALLY important.

There are animal rescue people who can't figure out why others think some spritiual ideas are more important than the actual lives of animals. Religious groups that think it's silly to spend a lot of $ on animals when people's souls are damaged. Others who see gaps in the governments service to specific demographic groups or the military troops, don't see why animals OR 'souls' deserve the money and special tax breaks when there are physical needs to be met through some of the United Way, American Legion, and other organizations.

If one likes the religious concept, Angel Food is an option.

Edit: PC, it seems to me, that retarded would be if one automatically assumed that anything someone said was good, without ever checking yourself! We humans come up with a bunch of ideas, and they sure aren't all good ideas. ..... it's 'critical thinking', not retardation....where -did- you go to school to train your brain so well?

We have Angel Food Ministries active in our area. There is a lot of need here, with the loss of many jobs over the past few years. We also have a very active American Legion Post. The legion and their ladies auxillary does a lot for the veterans at the VA where I work.

we have the Angel Food ministries in our area, and for someone on a fixed income it is really a blessing, If they have something I don't like, or use, our church has a pantry for someone who needs it, like a fire destroying their home or some unexpected illness. And sometimes i just buy an extra box for a single mother, our pastor always knows who needs it,and it makes you feel good to help someone and no body knows who did it but you.
